Talk about stats that don't pass the smell test... a ballpark went from 18th to 1st in one year? Absent significant changes to the field's dimensions, its park factor should remain essentially constant from year to year. So unless they moved in the fences 25 feet or chopped the foul territory in half of something, that just doesn't add up. Weather. If that's truly the explanation then the term "park factor" is a misnomer. Might as well just call it a weather factor instead, if that's what it is. Weather causes variance, the parks themselves are the most important factor to how the stadium plays.

This isn't even close to being true. Believe whatever you want, but Byrd will probably be a 100-110 OPS+ guy all 3 years he's a Cub. I'm done arguing about the ever so mediocre Marlon Byrd. So you think he'll have an OPS+ right around his 112 he had with the Rangers... And a 100-110 OPS+ from a CF for 5M a year is a steal.

3 mill for this year should give us room to make more moves for now. But, I guess the worst thing about this deal is actually that our OF is now going to be Soriano/Byrd/Fukudome for the next 2 years almost assuredly. I can't see us going after Crawford or anyone else that may be available over that time frame. You could've said the same thing about Soriano/Fukudome/Bradley last year. Verdell isn't as good as any of the 3 guards that are freshmen for us this year. He's had a good game, but he's really not that great of a player. (yet, still has serious TO concerns and isn't enough of a shooter to make up for it) He's benefited greatly from the playing time he's been able to get. He absolutely made the right call(which I critiqued at the time) because he wouldn't have gotten the game experience at Minnesota that he's received at IU
