and a no hitter. and a record breaking HR. and a 21 K game. and... I'm not saying he shouldn't do it, but it's something that would be referenced for anything that someone wants reviewed by the commish in the future. So Galarraga should be screwed out of a perfect game that he rightfully earned because other people may use replay so they won't get screwed out of other things that they rightfully earned as well? Really? Yeah, I don't get that. How often does an ump completely blow the last out of a historically significant moment? And then completely fess up to messing it up? It's an incredibly unique situation, and if it opens up the door to getting more historically significant events correct when they are incorrectly blown by umps, well...I don't think that's a slippery slope that's too dangerous. Can we retroactively take away the White Sox world series? -

I'd put Sabathia in there over probably everyone but Lincecum. I'd probably consider Roy Halladay and Johan too even though they'll be 43 and 41 in 10 years.

It seems when talking about consistency v. streakiness, everyone only focuses on the cold streaks, and not the hot streaks. Wouldn't a hot streak player put less pressure on a manager/teammates compared to a consistent one?

The approach this team has at all times is comical. Whether it's cutting down on their swings with 2 strikes, hitting the ball where it is pitched, swinging at the first pitch after a 4-pitch walk, it's all just bad. And has been bad for the majority of my life as a Cubs fan, except for 2008, when they reverted back to form in the postseason. sOPS+ measures performance relative to the rest of the league within a particular split. Think of it as OPS+ for specific situations alone. The Cubs sOPS+ with 2 strikes is 133. The Cubs sOPS+ with a runner on 3rd < 2 outs is 110.

If Lou goes by what he said yesterday, he's planning on working Cashner into the 7th-8th inning after a little while. And why does fall league pitching not count in your total? Cashner threw in the fall league last year, so that's not going to help him build innings relative to 2009. Are fall league innings different in the fall than pitches during the summer? I'm honestly confused about this – has he not pitched in the fall league since 2008 or why can the fall league innings not count toward his 2009 total if he did pitch in the fall league in 2009? I believe TT is saying that it's not adding on any innings relative to his 2009 total because he had those innings in '09 as well.

The Crew had some kind of indication. I'm not sure what it was, but they knew something. Whatever happened, the Cubs failed to see McGehee's potential. And it does hurt, especially now. They took a flyer on a guy to be their 25th man(which he was when the season started) behind studs like Craig Counsel and Frank Catalonotto. Hey, I really see something I like in this McGehee lad, let's give him 16 ABs through the first month and a half season.
