  1. I thought that was implied since we were getting Lee to waive his NTC
  2. Look at Lawrence Information Minister, Baghdad Snood.
  3. Matching last season's total does nothing for his development.
  4. I'm trying to think of who though. Pujols and Cabrera went from the OF to 1B, but didn't they both start out as 3B? I just think anybody who spent his entire college and minor league career in the OF is going to have a bit of a tough time going to 1B. Adam Dunn
  5. Is there any reason to believe maximizing his first 3 seasons would minimize the value in the following years?
  6. I wonder if Colvin could play 1st? A Nady/Colvin platoon, perhaps? Guys move from left to right on the spectrum, and from the infield to the outfield. But I don't think there's much history of guys moving from outfield to infield, even first base. I think some have gone the 3B, LF, 1B route, but OF his entire life then IF? That would be tough. Lumbering OFs move to 1B, it doesn't happen with athletic guys like Colvin.
  7. Most teams opened new stadiums because they got taxpayers to foot the bill. If you have a scenario where Chicago builds the Cubs a stadium then have it. It ain't gonna happen.
  8. I guess I'm not getting your angle here gooney. Who's to say pushing him longer and longer doesn't risk him? Well, do you want him to never be a starter? Shouldn't we be more concerned with getting good league minimum years out of him compared to keeping his arbitration awards down?
  9. Why would Cashner only get 120 innings in Iowa?
  10. McGehee was waived by the Cubs becasue he sucked.
  11. They made that choice like 50 years ago.
  12. What I meant is that on a team of inconsistent 900 OPS players, not all are going to put up a 700 at the same time and an 1100 at the same time. I guess I don't understand the logic behind the consistent player being more valuable. In a sport like basketball where one player can carry the team, I get it, but when you have 8 other hitters in the lineup, it doesn't seem to be a big deal.
  13. Well that just missed my point altogether. They're putting money into the park now, so they don't have to waste a boatload of money on a new one.
  14. If Cal didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all
  15. If the park isn't taken care of, it won't be usable, and then you'll be bitching that they're spending 400M on a new park rather than putting it all into payroll.
  16. Cause I'd pick up every guy on free agency that was DLd before the season started.
  17. Yeah, not a free agency/arbitration thing. I was just thinking specifically about pension eligibility. I feel like they did something like this for somebody else before (kept him on 15 day DL unnecessarily) and it was mentioned at the time. It sounds familiar, but I want to say that was a keeping a guy on the DL vs releasing him issue. I want to say it was Chad Fox.
  18. seriously? You wouldn't rather have a guy that puts up a .900 OPS every month than a guy that goes .700 to 1.100 to .700 to 1.100 to .700 to 1.100 over the course of the 6 months? You realize you don't just add up the runs at the end of the season and the teams with the best run differential makes the playoffs, right? It's not like everyone on the team goes through the same peaks and valleys.
  19. Yes, maybe I missed something, but why the eff is a player who hasn't played all season not on the 60 day DL 57 days in? It's not really necessary until the roster spot is needed. And I have a feeling there's some sort of service time situation involved where being on a 40-man roster and not the 60day DL helps Guzman get his pension or something. I don't think that's true. At least as far as service time towards reaching free agency is concerned, being on the 60 day DL counts the same as being on the active roster. It's why Will Ohman became arb-eligible after like 1 active season.
  20. Yes, maybe I missed something, but why the eff is a player who hasn't played all season not on the 60 day DL 57 days in? It's not really necessary until the roster spot is needed.
  21. Crane Kenney has virtually nothing to do with the on field product
  22. Blackhawks fans not going to games didn't make them better, Bill Wirtz dying did.
  23. Just seems like a better allocation of resources would be to have Colvin hitting here rather than Shitty McSingles
  24. Tyler Colvin is on deck to pinch hit for Geo. Unbelievable
