  1. He has to fear for his life everytime he comes to Chicago. It would've been nice, but there's no chance that was going to materialize. Haha oh yeah. That.
  2. Just saw that Tony Allen signed with the Grizzlies. I was hoping to get him back. He would've been a good fit on the Bulls as a defensive counterpart to Korver's offense.
  3. The Braves also gave up Matt Harrison who was their #2 prospect before that season started according to Goldstein.
  4. I was hoping for this anyway, but now it'll be much sweeter. Yep, I am legitamately rooting for the Cardinals over them. [expletive] you Dusty
  5. But all things weren't equal. Cleveland had the best player in the game.
  6. Chris Bosh Don't see how that's relevant since Lebron wasn't under contract
  7. I'm surprised nobody has tried to blame Hendry for the poor facilities. I'm surprised you haven't given him credit for planting the ivy
  8. I can't imagine any scenario in which the city of Chicago puts up a significant amount of money to build the Cubs a stadium. It's a lot easier sale to add a wing to an art museum than to tear down an iconic structure to replace it with a new stadium so a billionaire can benefit. And as usual, where is this stadium going to go?
  9. I thought GWRBI was the coolest when I first started collecting.
  10. I wonder if they've given up on Brandon Wood yet. Maybe they would let us have Napoli since Conger seems ready to take over behind the plate. Hell, we'll even throw in Colvin for good measure. :beg: Why would they need 2 first basemen?
  11. I get that, but I'm more inclined to give credit to the actual coaching staff over Jordan.
  12. I never claimed it was possible to prove. Nobody knows what Pippen would have been like if Jordan didn't exist, or if Pippen played in Seattle. Kinda sucks for Scottie. How does it suck for Scottie? He won 6 titles. He's a legend. I don't think he'd trade that in to be Jason Kidd or Dirk Nowitski. I could see a certain type of person (I have no idea if Pippen is that type)having some resentment at being forever viewed as Michael's #2. It almost comes full circle with the argument on Lebron, dealing with legacies and how you're viewed in the historical sense. With the ego of most professional athletes, it makes sense that a guy in Pippen's situation could look back and wonder if he could've been Jordan.
  13. I guess I just don't see where the belief comes from that Jordan not only made him better while playing alongside him, but also when he wasn't there. It makes a lot of sense considering the reliance on teammates in basketball (on both ends) to say one player can improve another one by being on the court with him. Unless you think Jordan was coaching guys on the side, I don't quite get how Jordan's effect was long-lasting when Pippen wasn't able to be freed up by guys sagging on Jordan. Seems you're severely underselling Jackson/Tex/whoever for Pippen's development.
  14. Well if those are the parameters then you're asking for answers that are impossible to prove. It's not like Pippen was unheralded coming out of college. He was the 5th overall pick in '87 coming out of Central Arkansas.
  15. The Mark Teixeira trade wasn't that long ago. Either of them. Or the Soriano trade
  16. I have no evidence that the myriad of moron sportswriters who wrote about Prior not being tough in '04-'06 were acting on leaks from the organization, but it's always been my assumption considering the stone-age level thinking in the organization at the time.
  17. http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/basket_1992/ Charles Barkley is the greatest player to never win a ring. Love that Barkley went 7-8 from 3.
  18. Pete Myers was out of the NBA for 3 years before becoming a starter with the Bulls??
  19. Wolf's getting too deep with the metaphors, I don't even know if he's on my side.
  20. Why? Because he had to go to another team to get his Pippen/Shaq? Whatever anyone's opinion of Pippen, he was never a top-4 player in the entire league like Dwyane Wade is. At best, LBJ and Wade are 1A and 1B. And for that matter, Shaq is a poor comparison too, because he was The Man on those first 3 Lakers teams, not Kobe. Pippen was one of about 10 active players named to the top 50 players in NBA history. He was seen very highly during his playing days. I'd say he could definitely make a case for top 5 for some part of the dynasty. The Dream Team had 12 players, he was clearly better than Laettner (HA!), Bird '92, Magic '92, Robinson and Chris Mullin. I'd probably put Jordan, Malone, Ewing, and Barkley ahead of him, leaving him in a group with Stockton and an aging Drexler. ETA: Well that'd be 6, but still.
  21. By not reading into things that weren't stated? I never said Pippen wasn't good. But would he have been an elite player without Jordan on his team? http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHI/1994.html
  22. Man, most people are really stupid. Yeah, you're proving that. Reason: Absuive >> This post contained abusive material Reason: trolling And honestly, how else should one respond to the thought that Scottie Pippen was only good because St. Michael made it so?
  23. Man, most people are really stupid. Yeah, you're proving that. Reason: Absuive >> This post contained abusive material Reason: trolling That's not one of the options.
  24. But he had one week of low A ball at the time, and the closer he got to AA the further his MLB ETA became. So that still doesn't make any sense. Because a year later he hadn't progressed as quickly as they thought. They were probably thinking late season callup to Daytona in '09, midseason to Tennesee in '10, September to majors
