  1. Good money says he's in Columbia next week. He says you're next Roast.
  2. wut? When Quade finally pulled Wood he barely got a smattering of boos, despite reloading the bases and giving up 2 more runs himself. There's a pretty clear distinction between who gets really booed at Wrigley and who doesn't. [expletive] white players rarely get anything close to what the non-white ones get when they [expletive] up. Regardless of skin color, Kerry Wood has given Cubs fans a lot more reasons to unconditionally love him. Really don't give a [expletive]. When someone is awful they should get booed if the fans are going to pull that, and Wood was horrible. And it's not just players like Wood. If you're white you get a pass 9 times out of 10 with the Wrigley faithful even if you're garbage most of time. Hot piles of waste like Hill and Theriot and DeWitt get a fraction of the booing certain other players get. I'm not disputing an inherent racism from Cubs fans, but you're using a terrible example due to the difference in the players' histories and the actual situation in the game (blowing a lead vs. letting the opponent pile on)

  4. Bottom 3 OBP teams' hitting coaches: International Brad Komminsk: 375 OBP in minors Leon Durham: 376 OBP in minors (actually higher because his first year has no walks listed, but the ABs are still figured into the OBP) Jamie Dismuke: 367 OBP in minors PCL Sandy Guerrero: 347 OBP in minors Damon Minor: 371 OBP in minors Keith Bodie: 316 OBP in minors And so on.
  5. I don't even know what that's supposed to mean.
  6. Imagine how texascub feels
  7. Do as a I say, not as I do. A hitting coach's OBP has little to nothing to do with his teaching style. ETA: Why are you using minor league #s? ETA: Duncan has a better ISOd than Ochoa.
  8. Why not just steal home? They don't do that btw.
  9. Not unless the leverage was really high for that AB
  10. FYI, this wasn't me, because I'm not a moron.
  11. That Boudreau shift is outrageous.
  12. Who said anything about going up there looking for a walk? If you go up there looking for a good pitch to hit, you're going to walk. How good do you think minor league pitchers' control are that a player would have to be letting hittable pitches go by in order to have a good OBP?
  13. Wrong thread? I thought the Bulls bit was relevant, even if it's from Anthony Tolliver.
  14. Yeah, I live in downtown Milwaukee. The problem is that things are just so insular here. If you wear team apparel for anyone but a Wisconsin team you get stares and insults. I've had people slow down to yell f*ck Purdue as they drive by me when I'm wearing Purdue gear. It's really strange because the people up here are generally nice. Try wearing Cubs gear in St Louis. I guess the difference is they dont care about the other sports. Illini gear is well received, for instance. I'd bet Illinois has the largest alumni base in St. Louis.
  15. In all fairness, you'd get that in a lot of places. I never did when I lived in Chicago... We must've never crossed paths.
  16. Ruth would've fractured Miller Huggins's skull with a baseball bat if he asked him to bunt. And he would've been justified.
  17. Can somebody please just lock this nonsense.
  18. I really hope "be agressive" isn't replaced with "situational hitting"
  19. He's already hit his career high OPS and his defense will force him to move to 1B. THIS IS FUN!!! No wait, the other thing, tedious.
  20. What's certifiably insane are those that say the Cubs are destined to win 75 games WITH major FA acquisitions.
  21. No, those aren't the two options. Nope, the only option is to spend the money we have coming off the books. You don't punt a season before it starts with a 130M payroll unless it's a roster full of albatrosses.
  22. I can live with the fan voting, but you can't have fan voting AND player voting AND manager picks AND 1 player per team minimums. The players vote from the pool of all player, and then their consensus gets voted by fans so you go to their 2nd pick, but then he gets hurt, and their 3rd pick was chosen by the manager, so you go to their 4th pick and Scott Rolen makes the all-star team because 8 moron players happened to vote for him. The manager has to take 1 2003 Devil Ray, but all the position player slots have been filled, so he can't take a worthy Aubrey Huff, so you wind up with Lance Carter, all-star. at least he was balanced out by the pirates' mike williams, who was sporting a 6.44 era at the all star break He was my original example, but on closer inspection, that just looked like Dusty being a moron and taking roughly the 10th best pitcher on the Pirates.
