  1. Someone bet you $100 dollars that the Sox would finish with 10 more wins than the Cubs? I'm not sure I've ever lost a bet with this guy.
  2. Hiring him would send a strong message to Sandberg he's not welcome. I couldn't have been later on this joke if I tried.
  3. I hope they don't want him gone. I hope they want to keep him away from Chicago. I hope Ricketts isn't dumb enough to push for Sandberg and the new GM is smart enough to find the much better candidates for the job. Ok, so let me get this straight. So you say you hope a hall of fame baseball guy and an organization that has been a beast in the NL wants him enough to stay with them, which to me is a ringing endorsement of Sandberg but he is not good enough to manage the Cubs? Ok. I hope the Phillies want to hang on to Ryan Howard rather than give him to the Cubs. Ok!
  4. Hiring him would send a strong message to Sandberg he's not welcome.
  5. It would probably make fans of also-rans care a lot less about the regular season and real playoffs. WBC ratings are certainly nothing special, and at least that has the USA USA USA factor.
  6. No we still hate Sosa and Prior.
  7. His sons are reason enough to hate him. He's a raging prick.
  8. Nobody would give a [expletive] about the 12 team NIT.
  9. There has been 1 player to ever receive a 200M contract. And the Cubs didn't sign him. QED
  10. The Cubs have never and will never invest 200M on one player, nor should they. Pujols will breakdown midway through whatever ridiculous contract he gets. Got it.
  11. I've heard a lot of "building from within" I think that's getting misinterpreted as "Ricketts won't spend on FAs" He's made mention on numerous occassions about how when talking to fans they keep mentioning certain free agent first basemen as who they should go for. Seems dumb for him to even mention that if he wasn't going to allow the new GM to chase them.
  12. You know, Mark Grace used to play here and people like him at the Cubs Convention. Pretty sure Ricketts is bringing him back to play first.
  13. Well, lets not forget who else has been rumored to join the Cubs from the Phillies organization. The dots seem to be getting connected here. ozzie was also just fired from his job. if you remember, he has ties to chicago. hmmmmm this all seems like too much of a coincidence Steve Stone live in the Chicago area, I think we've found our GM.
  14. Or both. However, no way Ricketts is shelling out over 200M for Pujols. We will be lucky to land Prince. Where do people keep getting this from?
  15. He begain his lobbying about 2 months ago on Sunday Night Baseball.
  16. If Ricketts let a GM who was on shaky ground pick his own manager why would he not let a new GM charged with turning around the franchise pick his?
  17. it's not the first time. Remember Lou Piniella to Tampa Bay? Hell there were rumors about Guillen being traded to the Marlins last season. I think Mike Stanton was the name rumored to go to Chicago. According to who, Joe Cowley or White Sox Interactive? That was last offseason. No GM in their right mind would trade a talent like Stanton or Morrison for 1 year of a manager, whose had a very up and down stint with his last team. They say anything the White Sox get will be relatively minor. Anyone thinking the Sox would get Stanton last offseason for Guillen was out of their [expletive] mind.
  18. An NFL season is 16 games long.
  19. Ricketts isn't dumb enough to force a manager on his new GM.
  20. And don't ever eat a lunch and dinner that's not offered in the clubhouse.

  22. Are they? Pro athletes in general are about as dumb as da bum, but I don't see what separates any one from the other. (Though I guess NFL players have at least 3 years "college education" so maybe they're set apart from the rest.) On the flip side you have hockey players with just as little education as baseball players, (baseball being brought down due to being able to sign non US-Canadian players at 16) and I believe the NBA has the highest rate of bankruptcy after leaving the league.
