  1. I need one Cubs win or one White Sox loss by the end of the year to win $100. Get it done Garza.
  2. Castillo? He's the only guy I see on BR that's under 6'0" Is he listed as under 5'0"?
  3. Because Montanez isn't a kid and has little to no future with the organization?
  4. Let's root for the Rays and see how it turns out I guess. I've given up on Friedman based on what I've read about how difficult it's gonna be to tear him away from his relationships with ownership and everyone else there. If we can lure him away with money, great. How great is it that we're saying oh well, Friedman will probably be tough to pry away, let's just settle for Epstein? And if Epstein gets swayed to stay in Boston, I guess I'd be ok with Cashman. ***Of course if we wind up with Dan Evans when all is said and done, there will be much heroin injection for all***
  5. I explained why in the post. If the Cubs one day make the World Series and HFA is something that matters to you, would you want it possibly decided in a game months before possibly decided on a HR by, say, a Royals batter off of a Pirates pitcher, assuming those two teams are still lousy at the time? It makes no sense. I'd prefer that to being pissed off that they happened to make it in an even year.
  6. levin, could you re-write this Erik had no problem understanding it.
  7. How is the current method worse?
  8. It won't happen, but it should be noted that Szym isn't your typicl moron ESPN writer. He got his start at BTF
  9. Every time the topic of the ASG deciding HFA should be required to inclued a note saying it was formerly determined by alternating every year.
  10. Steve Stone wanted to trade Aramis Ramirez for Cesar Izturis.
  11. Ridiculous. You don't cut a guy who can still be useful just because you don't like him. He still put up a .271 .312 .500 .812 line against LH pitchers this year. Why not just platoon him? If he's already complaining about batting 7th don't you think he's going to complain about being platooned? Also, though the numbers against lefties are slightly above average I fully expect his numbers to be even worse next year. I'd rather let Brett Jackson take up LF full-time or find a better replacement than have Soriano there against lefties and taking a roster spot to do so. That's my opinion of course. If Jackson is in LF and Soriano is cut to make you feel better, who is playing the other OF spot? Where is this better replacement coming from? Are we passing on Fielder/Pujols because we have to spend money on the OF to satisfy Soriano's bloodlust?
  12. If the 2nd wild card team isn't the 5th best team, then you're giving the 5th (or potentially worse) best team in the league a bye ahead of 2 teams that were better. I'm not advocating scrapping divisions, but it seems odd to reward a team for happening to be better than 4 (or 5 or 3) teams that happen to be located near them.
  13. Surprised at the near-unanimous support here. You're giving the 5th best team in a league a chance to win the world series, and punishing teams for happening to be in really good divisions.
  14. Pete Rose from 2B to LF to RF to LF to 3B to 1B
  15. [expletive], Dick Stockton is the worst. Him and Lynch just talked about how it was 1st and 5 and how you can take a shot at it, and how much the penalty causing 1st and 5 hurts the Vikings. Lions run a screen pass, and he says it's a big play on 3rd and long.
  16. No, it's just that he went to Mizzou.
  17. Pretty sure he never said that.
  18. He didn't go complaining to the media. $100 says he was asked something along the lines of "so what do you think of batting so low in the lineup this year?" Soriano then responds with his limited grasp of english and essentially says "I'll hit where they want me to hit, but I don't like being bounced around the lineup as often as I have been this year." What's wrong with that? It's not like we haven't been griping about Quade's crappy lineup management all season long. I didn't say he went complaining to the media. I said it is selfish to complain to the media about it, whether they were seeking him out or not. It's baseball. Hit the ball no matter where you are! If you are Soriano you are going to take the same approach no matter what slot you are hitting in. He has had the same approach whether he has hit leadoff, third, sixth, or wherever since he has been with the team. I've had enough of the Ramirez and Soriano show. Send them somewhere else. They haven't won and titles or created a winning atmosphere in the clubhouse anyway. Good riddance! [expletive] RAMIREZ!!!
  19. Are you from Neptune?
  20. Someday everyone will realize that players don't just grab the nearest media guy and say I'VE GOT SOME STUFF I WANNA GET OFF MY CHEST COME HERE AND LISTEN TO ME Ok maybe, they won't, but it'd be nice if they did.
  21. Gore/Green Flacco
  22. Stafford
  23. Mulholland actually started game 162, and just was extended too long giving up 2 in the 8th. Then Riggleman threw Beck for 3 innings until he finally gave up a run.
  24. I remember the Mulholland error, but it wasn't game 162. Actually, I can't find it being anywhere down the stretch, which is strange.
  25. I saw it live. Couldn't believe the drop. Then heard Santos' call, and couldn't stop laughing. We made the playoffs that year so ultimately it didn't matter much. That weird first base line play against the Stros was probably more instrumental to our playoff appearance. But it was fun seeing Santos simply lose all control. Laughing?? Fun? WTF is wrong with you?
