  1. I remember the Mulholland error, but it wasn't game 162. Actually, I can't find it being anywhere down the stretch, which is strange.
  2. I saw it live. Couldn't believe the drop. Then heard Santos' call, and couldn't stop laughing. We made the playoffs that year so ultimately it didn't matter much. That weird first base line play against the Stros was probably more instrumental to our playoff appearance. But it was fun seeing Santos simply lose all control. Laughing?? Fun? WTF is wrong with you?
  3. Soul apparently gets lots of UTIs
  4. There's bacteria flying around people's urine?
  5. What makes the troughs unsanitary?
  6. And my contention is, that's completely absurd. The second half describes an actual aspect of a scout's job. Ok?
  7. I'm surprised the Cardinals didn't pitch around him like the Brewers did.
  8. We've won a few regular season titles, what the hell are you getting at? I know you did. Just clarifying if Illinois has tourney banners hanging or not I don't believe they do.
  9. [expletive], must we have this debate again?
  10. And my contention is, that's completely absurd. Based on your own sense of contrarianism No, based on common sense. Some here would have us believe that Hughes has survived for decades at the highest level of the industry despite not grasping a concept so basic as, HS players are more risky than college players. Use your friggin brains for a second, people. It's beyond ridiculous. Hughes wasn't employed for decades based on his risk management.
  11. A shot at Iowa basketball? That's kind of weak. First school that came to mind that hasn't won a regular season championship in a while, but won two conference tourneys. And hung a banner for them. Technically, aren't they conference champs since they get awarded the auto bid to the NCAA tourney? Not according to the Big 10.

  14. What did you want him to say sooner? That he no longer wanted to be here so we could have traded him. Are you from a future where Ramirez says this?
  15. His contention is that Hughes doesn't understand that HS players are more risky, and he's too busy telling people what he sees in the hotbox to care what age the guy is.
  16. Scouts don't feel threatened about their jobs, they feel threatened about how their jobs are going to evolve or devolve. I don't see a difference there.
  17. Use proper context or at least the entire quote. I don't understand how the remainder of your quote makes a difference. By your own admission, he appears unaware of the differences between HS and college. I'm to believe that he honestly thought McCracken was saying HS players can't be scouted?
  18. I was really pissed when they sent him down in '96 after he hit roughly 1 HR per AB. Dump Grace, keep Brown. ETA: Brant Brown is [expletive] 40 years old.
  19. We did waste Trachsel on game 163 rather than getting to throw him against the Braves.
  20. No, he had to tell Chip the game was over. Chip thought the Brewers had tied the game on the play.
  21. Plus they had all those BCS berths.
