  1. I'm assuming Cashner is in a different group because TT doesn't want him pitching a full 180 innings in the majors next year.
  2. LEAVE HIM ALONE NOAH PINZUR
  3. You're the philosopher, you figure it out. Why?
  4. That would imply I've done anything that constitutes work today.
  5. I'm so naked right now.
  6. What's 100% of 0?
  7. How much fun is this offseason going to be??
  8. ok, the last 2 years he's been 4.4 What about the last three years? how about 4? That'd just be silly. 5 it is.
  9. Of course we're going to lose @ Purdue, so none of this matters.
  10. I think Illinois would be in great shape for a BCS bid if they went 11-1 beating Michigan and losing to Wisconsin. I'm sketchy on the BCS rules, because unfortunately it hasn't applied to my teams since the Illinois Rose Bowl: Are there obligations to take the higher ranked team from a particular conference? If not, I'd imagine a bowl would prefer an 11-2 Michigan team over an 11-1 Illinois team who beat them or an 11-1 Wisconsin team over a 12-1 or 11-2 Illinois team who beat them.
  11. The only thing reckless about that offseason was the Soriano contract. (Which was some kind of reckless) The other contracts handed out turned out to be good-great deals for the Cubs.
  12. I can't remember, they still have the 2 teams per conference rule for BCS right? Barring a Michigan choke, it looks like the only way Illinois gets one is by winning the conference
  13. It means the Red Sox won't be getting any good players. Oh wait, it's Gammons, the last coherent thought he had was about 6 years ago.
  14. THE FANBOY OWNER HAS PROVEN HE'S IN OVER HIS HEAD! WORSE THAN THE TRIB FIRE CLOWN KENNEY
  15. It means the Red Sox won't be getting any good players.
  16. after this we still get to talk about who iwll be manager. and then we get to obsess about whether or not we'll get prince after that. cubs offseasons are more fun than cubs seasons NOT FOR LONG
  17. So the people in this and the previous thread were just trolling? Over the past week, people have talked about the possibility of virtually every one of our valuable assets being involved.
  18. Probably money straight from the player budget giving Theo a 70M payroll!!
  19. I prefer to call them spazzes. More mean-spirited that way. Just think about it logically, this will go far enough that Epstein has agreed to terms, the Red Sox are letting him walk, and the Boston's gonna say NO DEAL after all that and force Theo to come back to work for them. Compensation is a non-factor.
  20. Castro put up a .376/.421/.569 line at AA while 2 years younger than Jackson was last year. I'm relatively sure if we let Castro amass half a season at AAA next year he'd outperform Jackson by quite a bit.
  21. no, i'm trying to be realistic about it. who do you think they'll be giving up? Nobody who's ever appeared on a top 100 prospect list. Lottery ticket(s) for the most part. And I'm not even convinced we'll be giving up anything in terms of players.
  22. Truffle's worried something good is about to happen to the Cubs, so he's creating fantasy scenarios where we lose one of our best young players
  23. at least one person in this thread has said that getting epstein could be more important than signing fielder or pujols, and everyone seems to agree that a good GM is really important, much more so than a manager. so why is it unreasonable for the red sox to ask for cashner when the marlins just gave up two of their top 5 prospects (coming into 2011, though their stock had slipped) for a lousy manager, and tampa gave up randy winn coming off a 5 win season to get piniella? Beacuse Guillen wasn't being promoted and the Cubs weren't tampering? And Chuck LaMar is nowhere near our organization. it's a promotion, but the GM title is most important and given that the GM is the most important position in a sports organization, the red sox would have been completely justified in telling the cubs to [expletive] off and come back after next season when his contract is up. Epstein seems to think it's pretty important to not have some megalomaniac as president above him, so I'd say president is most important. They would have been justified in the sense that he's under contract to them and they can do whatever they want. They wouldn't have been with regards to professional courtesy which has been granted for roughly forever.
