  1. I don't hate Soriano nearly as much as most(and actually like him on a personal level), but you have to take that trade.
  2. If the Red Sox get anything more than a mediocre A-ball pitcher, they should be happy. Glorious. Trinidad never touched a BA top 100 list. His minor league stats below. Struggling to come up with an equivalent prospect off the top of my head, but it's not McNutt. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=trinid001hec
  3. There have been no signs anywhere that the Red Sox are willing to make Theo a "co-CEO," likely because Lucchino doesn't want to cede any power. I'm just clearly throwing out there that if this falls through, they can give him a shiny new title and keep him. Its not a losing situation for either team. Just an option that is all. My point is, the Red Sox don't want to make him co-CEO, so it's not an option.

  5. He isn't, Lucchino however is now more on the business side...Theo takes care of baseball ops. If you put a food chain up...Lucchino is higher as JWH mentioned on an interview recently he runs the Sox. Now if Theo takes on a business role with the Cubs then that is absolutely 100% a promotion no matter how you shake it...but depending on who you ask he doesn't want anything to do with that. The Crawford signing was all Theo apparently...There has been talk that Crawford and A-Gon were acquired for ratings purposes however this is unsubstantiated. The Crawford signing was all Theo according to Red Sox sources after Theo had agreed to a contract with the Cubs.
  6. Of course Archer's stature took a dive this year as well, and I don't believe he has injuries to fall back on. Oh and stay the [expletive] away from my Jeimer
  7. You start high and you work your way down, by asking for a Low A ball player with no ceiling in return, you're making the Cubs fan base do handstands, and probably leaving something on the table. I have to negotiate contracts every day...it can be annoying as hell but people understand parameters before speaking and then you work your way to a middle ground in which both parties can agree to. Pretty dumb of the Red Sox to not start with Castro.
  8. McNutt was a top 50 prospect according to BA. The Marlins prospects didn't crack the top 100.
  9. Makes sense, no woman would want to have sex with him.
  10. You tell him nobody cares about his stupid son?
  11. Unless the Yankee job opens up or Frank McCourt finally sells, there wouldn't be a better GM opp available.
  12. Then they don't hold the most valuable asset.
  13. DID I SLIP THROUGH A WORMHOLE??
  14. you said you were done in here. go hunt some ducks. Shhhh, you won't to wake up Pedantic Kyle? Can't we just enjoy this Kyle while he lasts?
  15. Was Corey Patterson supposed to be a "league average player? Was that what he was touted to be or was the term: 5 tools/can't miss prospect the general norm? WHO [expletive] CARES WHAT PATTERSON WAS TOUTED TO BE?? YOU DON'T LOSE VALUE BECAUSE YOU HOPED A GUY WOULD BECOME SOMETHING ELSE HE STILL HAS THAT VALUE HOLY [expletive]
  16. A lot higher. McNutt is older than your basic draft pick, has had more success closer to the big leagues, and the signing of draft picks is artificially lowered by their inability to negotiate with multiple teams. Let's just assume you're right, and a well-regarded AA prospect is worth $10M. In that case, what is the monetary value of a GM with a stellar record of drafting and developing many of those well-regarded AA prospects? Less than the value of one such prospect? Really? Do you think Theo would get 10M/Y if he were a free agent? ETA: Hi Gooney Every team in baseball would fall all over themselves to pay $10M to have Epstein under control for 6 years, like you get with the prospect. So if we make your question apples-to-apples, the answer is absolutely yes. WHAT?
  17. Because that's when the next season will start?

  19. LOL Felix Pie, ever heard of him?
  20. Luckily you're not Tom Ricketts, and he'll give the Red Sox Garza. Can't believe you'd rather hold on to a single player rather than get a competent GM in here.
  21. Pujols/Fielder probably won't accept debt as payment, so I'm thinking no.
  22. If they actually thought that was appropriate compensation, instead of just a negotiating ploy, then Lucchino and Co. are insane. Granted, I think they probably threw that name out there to see if they could con the Cubs into something good, but still make it seem like a good deal. I guess Ricketts isn't interested in season tickets.
  23. Ricketts you idiot!!! You're going to hold up the trade because of one starting pitcher??
