  2. So if Michigan beats MSU, and Illinois beats OSU, we become the clear best shot at taking down Wisconsin in the regular season.
  3. Michigan and Illinois over Wisconsin? did Wisconsin lose on Saturday??? They beat a Big Ten team, but we don't know if any of them are any good, so the win barely counts. ETA: Actually, they were idle
  4. If you're not outright saying it, you're certainly implying that SEC schools are loading up on BCS schools while most Big Ten teams play nothing but schools like Buffalo, New Mexico State, and Texas A&M
  5. When you have 4 non-conference games per year, and nearly every school choose at least 2 cupcakes out of those 4, how can you determine anybody's ever any good? Are you going to argue that we don't know if Wisconsin is good yet?
  6. Which SEC schools? Vandy? Ole Miss? Mississippi State? Kentucky? Mississippi State and Mississippi University
  7. And yet, the most impressive wins will be 3-points over ASU or UM watching ND shoot itself in the foot repeatedly with a grenade launcher and winning at the last second. What are the SEC's best OOC wins? Better than the Big Ten's. Doesn't make what you wrote less wrong.
  8. Every single B1G team played an AQ school in their non-con 2 SEC schools will not.
  9. None of those excerpts lead me to believe that's a good read. The smart play is to trade your league minimum best player for a GM, and then sign an 18M/year replacement
  10. Seems to be the story of the Big Ten for awhile now (in both football and basketball) Better than average mid-tier teams, but few if any elite teams.
  11. Beat the pants off somebody like Alabama did while they play Ole Miss or Kentucky or whomever and you'll jump right back. Some jump. He probably meant somebody good.

  13. I thought it was onion gravy
  14. I professed my undying love for him a month ago.
  15. Nebraska still inexplicably ahead of Illinois.
  16. FX would love to show it, but they already booked 2 and a half men repeats in that timeslot.
  17. I hope Castro is a huge dick to Cubs fans, because they deserve it.
  18. And now, let me speculate about the Cubs GM search.
  19. They were 71-91, what a [expletive] [expletive].
  20. Make sure to credit @thekapman when mentioning he had nothing to say.
  21. Ricketts said he had "100 percent confidence in Jim" on June 15 before firing him (secretly no less!) on July 22. Whether we like it or not, I don't think Ricketts always means what he says publicly. He feeds pablum to reporters in order to avoid public feuds while conducting his business behind closed doors. Those situations aren't comparable at all. Yeah, what would be the motivation for Ricketts to lie in this case? To be clear, my point is simply that I don't think you can put a lot of stake in what he says to reporters. His full quote regarding replacing Kenney with a "baseball man": It's obvious in retrospect that he didn't "trust Jim". I think its equally plausible that the rest of the stuff he said could be a smoke screen; Ricketts seems to like to avoid public confrontations. I think he will stock his front office with the people he thinks are most capable of running it, irrespective of what he may have said (mostly in defense of Hendry, who he fired) a few months ago. You're acting like Ricketts said I'm just going to hire a GM and nobody else. There's a difference between having Pat Gillick as a president over the GM and Epstein bringing along a Byrnes or whoever as assistants.

  23. Does paywall mean tomb now?
  24. That's who you hope he becomes. I'm setting my sights much higher.
