  1. Well yeah, but that's not going to happen for 1 year of a mentally unstable middle of the rotation pitcher no matter how much we eat. I was thinking that the 2013 option was his. According to this article is a player option if he meets some criteria. The 2013 option could kick in if he's healthy and finished in the top 4 in the Cy Young. I doubt it happens but it's still out there if he pitches extremely well in 2012. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2978642 Why would you not want him back on 1/19.25 if he was top 4 in Cy Young?
  2. Like that guy in Summer School?
  3. While I'm sure these guys feel awful to be involved with anything regarding this creep (let alone the charity he used in such a repulsive way), there's no evidence that any of these guys had knowledge of the acts. I'd imagine some lower level employees of the charity had some knowledge though. Ugh.
  4. The parallels to the Catholic Church scandals are really amazing. There must be some larger phenomenon regarding human behavior at work here. Sandusky was protected for so long by what society considers a paragon of virtue. It really is shocking, disgusting, and morally reprehensible. Yep, the worst part about the disgusting acts of the bishops is that they're supposed to be the people that youth go to for protection. Obviously, Paterno and the PSU admins are more there for the college-aged, but as someone who's been a staple of the community for 50 years, you could say Paterno achieved that status(on a much smaller scale) for State College. Sandusky is exactly like the disgusting priests though, using his position of power, as a trusted authority figure, acting under the guise of helping troubled youths, just ugh. This has somehow managed to upstage Dave Bliss.
  5. I can't imagine anyone looking at the Cubs payroll with their front office and thinking they can't be the best team in baseball within 4 years. I also can't imagine anyone looking at Albert Pujols or Prince Fielder and thinking they'll be well into collapse mode in 4 years. I also can't imagine anyone looking at Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder pre-collapse and thinking you can't trade nearly all of their contract in 4 years so you can sign this mythical free agent who will never appear.
  6. Additionally, how can McQueary stay on at Penn State after not only knowing this happened, but knowing that nothing was done about it. I can't blame him as much as Paterno, because he was just a grad assistant, but this is just sick stuff that was going on, I can't imagine being able to convince yourself that your eyes deceived you or that JoePa took care of it. I've seen it described as a cult of personality on BTF, and it really seems like it was this situation where he reported to Paterno, Paterno said he'd take care of it, and he'd already bought in from playing and coaching with him, so that was that. I'm sure McQueary's feeling horrible shame from this, but honestly he should, it's an awful situation, and I'd constantly be second-guessing myself the rest of my life if I was him.
  7. I was talking about Craig Steltz
  8. Wonder how bad it would have to get before the Big Ten renames it's championship trophy.
  9. Of course, the Eagles' fastest player can likely do a 40 yd dash in fewer than 9 seconds. Maybe we could try blocking them.
  10. I'm not sure he lives to 86.
  11. After they told the media no questions about the whole raping minors situation would be allowed.
  12. Penn State just cancelled Paterno's press conference for today.
  13. I don't know what to tell you if you don't think the Bears' fastest player can outrun the Eagles' fastest player in a 40 yd dash when he has a 15 yd head start.
  14. Pujols probably hasn't spoken to Eckstein in 3 years.
  15. I'd rather play LaHair every day than trade for James Loney.
  16. it's lovely. quite a bit better than milwaukee. you should consider a lifestyle change. whoa really? because the grand jury indictment includes only one sexual assault after 2002. if you are withholding information i suggest turning that over to the police immediately. He reported it to this board, fulfilling his legal obligation.
  17. Eyeballing that, I'm thinking the Bears have the toughest schedule when using eb's removal of your own games for your opponents.
  18. I think Janikowski's was just an ordinary FG attempt thanks to whichever goof the Raiders had as head coach back then (Kiffin?)
  19. Any fair catch I believe.
  20. What I'd be interested to find out is how the clock is stopped, and what the rule is on penalties in the end zone. Say Hester runs back to the end zone, then throws the ball 30 yards out of bounds. Does that clock not stop until the ball hits? Can the game end on intentional grounding? I assume the answer is yes to both of these, but I'm not certain.
  21. Why would they let the opposing coach on the field?
  22. Yes, intentional safeties have occured at the college and pro level. Wikipedia even references one that took place with 9 seconds left on the clock.
  23. I think there is a reason that has never happened in an NFL game. An intentional safety at the end of a game?
  24. This is really a waste of everyone's time, but how slow do you all think the Bears players are that the Eagles could chase them down even with a 5 yard headstart? Why is a RB/WR more likely to fumble the ball in the end zone than Podlesh fumbling the snap?
  25. He has cancer so maybe. Welp, didn't know this.
