  1. Starlin Castro is already a really good baseball player, will be 22 next season, and is essentially free.
  2. I'd probably do Bumgarner, too. Maybe Upton. If Kemp even comes close to replicating his 2011 next year I'd consider him, too (if there wasn't such a good a chance he'd be a FA). You'd trade Starlin Castro straight up for Matt Kemp? If he had a similar 2012 to 2011 and wasn't likely to be a FA, yeah. Dude was a 9 WAR player this season. K, I'd trade Castro for Barry Bonds in his prime.

  4. I wonder if they'll non-tender him and try and re-sign him for less.
  5. so, does this mean that shark basically has to sign whatever contract offer the cubs give him, or sit out the year? is there a minimum value the contract has to have? They can only cut his salary by 20% of his previous years salary from what I understand. Is that the case even though he's not arb-eligible?
  6. I think he will, too. He obviously isn't going anywhere else, and his decision to retire or play could change at any moment, so he'd probably be fine with going year-to-year on team friendly deals until he decides to hang it up for good Seeing him as type B on the elias list, though, makes me wonder if Theo will avoid sentiment and nab the pick if Kerry would want to sign somewhere else instead of retiring. That only works if Kerry signs elsewhere before the arb deadline, which I really doubt.
  7. Pujols may not have been affected by LaRussa's status, but LaRussa may have been affected by Pujols's status.
  8. Here's the problem, I love ketchup, but I haven't yet found an alcoholic beverage that matches the taste.
  9. There is no point of any day where a Bloody Mary sounds good.
  10. Yeah calling them cost-controlled is pretty misleading when he's making that much.
  11. Well it turned into nothingness, but a lot of people were dumb enough to think Gomez wasn't awful and that Guerra would become something.
  12. Off the top of my head, all I've got is Longoria. Probably Harper and Moore.
  13. Considering their habits, they probably spent a [expletive] on celebratory beer and champagne.
  14. Re: Castro You're looking at Castro for 3 years + a 3/45M starting pitcher vs King Felix. It's not really a close call.
  15. I imagine there are a lot more comps with a world series game than a regular season game.
  16. I've said it before, there are probably about 5 guys I'd trade Castro for straight up. ETA: I had no idea how expensive he's about to get.
  17. I wouldn't trade Castro alone for him.
  18. Drop the Bum hammer.
  19. Finally Cardinals fans can go back to watching their team assuming they can pry their eyes away from preseason CFL games.

  21. Bum subforum.
  22. I like replays. What does that have to do with a jumbotron?
  23. Even if it didn't have landmark status, they wouldn't touch the scoreboard. What he's talking about is nothing like putting seats on the monster.
