  1. So you think all the guys he said are lazy are lazy.
  2. not to defend Kaplan, but just to be clear...you don't think Z is hot tempered and you don't think he reported out of shape? I think both of those are true. I think those are true of a lot of players, but the ones being pointed out share one characteristic. Then he is a bad example in the argument. Z is one of my favorite Cubs. I was at the game in Atlanta, and argued with the Braves fans around me that there's no way Z was throwing at Chipper based on the situation. Unfortunately sportscenter the next morning showed replays which made me a liar. I still think Z is awesome and should be brought back. But I also think he's at Andruw Jones level of, "man this guy could be so much more". We're establishing a pattern here. I do not, however, think there's any reason to believe that Zambrano is lazy. And more to the point, I believe that if Zambrano were white, then those same attributes would either be given a pass or lauded. I could make a list of Santo incidents and Zambrano incidents, scramble them up, and I bet the average non-Cubs baseball fan couldn't tell which ones belonged with which player. Yet Zambrano's incidents prove that he's an unacceptable, lazy clubhouse cancer, while Santo was a fiery competitor and beloved hero. Soriano gets ripped for taking Felix Pie clubbing. When Mark Grace led numerous young players into drunkenness, it's just part of his charm. Mark Grace didn't need steroids, he had Marlboro Reds!!
  3. Can I talk about how happy I am that Ronny Cedeno is more valuable than that rat [expletive] Ryan Theriot?
  4. If you describe enough Latin players as lazy while you haven't hated a white player since 2002, then it starts to become a pattern. How many is "enough". I know we've got Z and Ramirez so far. Soriano. Soto. Cedeno. Castro.

  6. It's not racism how he dislikes players who are bad. It's racism how he inevitably falls on racial stereotypes to describe them. So if a Latin player truly is lazy, and I observe this personally, would it be racist for me to describe him as lazy? Hint: there's another explanation besides racism here. Right, it's just that all Hispanics are lazy.
  7. He has a picture of Michael Jordan on his twitter!! HE'S MR. BLACK PEOPLE!!
  8. Oh man, I really hope it turns out this guy is Dave Kaplan, and he kept reading about how I wanted him run over by a truck.
  9. To appease people like you and Dave Kaplan.
  10. We talked briefly about him when he verballed. Shouldn't be any better than a backup PG for where this team should be in the coming years, and it takes away a scholarship from '13.
  11. The Cubs bad contracts after this season being Alfonso Soriano.
  12. I'm sure you heard Theo Epstein in his introductory press conference, talking about all the silly intangible BS clubhouse cliches that you and others here love to mock. So who's right: Epstein, who thinks these more abstract, not readily quantifiable things matter, or you, who thinks they don't? Because if Epstein is right, then Zambrano's behavior has been a detriment to the team for years. I'm sure you heard Epstein allude to the fact that he's fine with that big meanie Zambrano coming to the team. I seriously want you or any of your ilk to provide me one example of a player who has performed worse because Zambrano called them names at recess.
  13. Can we get back to our unified front against JoePa raping all those kids on Holy Cross's campus?
  14. You should put up with childish antics because these are a bunch of overgrown overpaid overly celebrated children playing a children's game. Who cares about childish antics? If it is counterproductive to the team winning games, then everyone should. The last time Zambrano's behavior cost the Cubs a game was 2006. And that's only because we were running Rob Bowen out there every other day rather than calling up Soto. I'll give him half-blame. So him being emotionally out of control on the mound has not caused him to pitch below his capabilities? No.
  15. I was watching football at the time.

  17. I wasn't aware JoePa coached Holy Cross football.
  18. And the difference in teammate fights is whether the buffoons in the media see it?
  19. Ryne Sandberg '94: .238 .312 .390 Carlos Zambrano '11: .318 .348 .500
  20. yes, without punishing 80+ innocent players as collateral damage If you were on the team, how would you feel about going out and representing this administration on the football field?
  21. I'd be pissed off more if this happened at Iowa. I'd be ill if this happened at Illinois, I'd probably be fairly out of it this entire week.
