  1. So how many different starters get to throw at a hyped rookie?
  2. How does not hitting him with a pitch = deferring to him?
  3. I don't think they're going to DFA LaHair
  4. Yikes. I mean Ted Lilly isn't a hall of famer but he's a pretty good pitcher. Eh, he wasn't coming back, so it was a decent trade at the time. DeWitt was flawed, but he was still young and was a decently rated prospect. Just one of those deals where you're gambling on prospects. They were crappy prospects, and we could've got compensation for him in the offseason.
  5. I remember a BA article after Prior was drafted that gave an in depth analysis of whether the author felt that Cruz or Prior should be higher ranked and ended up going with Cruz, admittedly because he had pitched against professional hitters. It was a very interesting read and frankly, for a Cubs fan... Really exciting. But I think you're right. People forget about how highly thought of Cruz was. Since 2005-Cruz has more Wins. Since 2003 (Frown face)
  6. You knew after Len mentioned he has great control that he'd walk him on 4.
  7. I think Szczur's start has been very encouraging. Someone tell Keith Law
  8. Just get a hit to RF Geo, I don't understand what the [expletive] issue is!
  9. You want him to sacrifice the guy over for the pitcher to drive him in? If he was a true team player he would've gotten a hit.
  10. Yeah he should've bunted him over for the [expletive] pitcher.
  11. The Dodgers are 8-7 when not playing the Pirates or Padres.
  12. On 7-16-09, Marmol had a rate of a walk/inning. He'll probably never be dominant, or even good again, but he can bounce back to be a very expensive, infuriating, decent reliever.
  13. I just made up a statistic IP per win above replacement: Rivera - 21.1 Clemens - 34.4 Maddux - 48.3 (i dont really believe Rivera had a better career than those 2, just thought it was interesting) Well of course that'll favor Rivera. You're pretty much removing the value of innings pitched by doing that.
  14. there's probably an argument to be made for best pitcher of all time, starter or reliever. No. yes Clemens and Maddux each threw more than 4 times as many innings as Rivera has. You've gotta be some kind of special, and really think highly of 9th inning leverage for Rivera to get close to them.
  15. there's probably an argument to be made for best pitcher of all time, starter or reliever. No.
  16. Why didn't he think of that before?
  17. Like when referring to all star ballots? Try to stay on topic please.
  18. Orris following Weber to KSU
  19. Since when?
  20. He's missing this. 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966 Boston Celtics What Happened: There were only 7 other teams in the NBA The Footnote: There were only 7 other teams in the NBA The Verdict: There were only 7 other teams in the NBA There were 8 other teams in 62, 63, 64, 65, and 66. I see where you think that totally invalidates his point. I like to deal in facts.
  21. I think Dolis just won the closer job.
