  1. Over the last 10 years, there's been 2 or 3 WS winning teams with a better #3 than Ryan Dempster.
  2. There are only 5-10 #1 starters, 3-5 #2 starters, and 1-3 #3 starters. Ryan Dempster is actully the only #4 starter in baseball.
  3. Oh and how does a guy finish undergrad and a masters while playing Big Ten basketball?
  4. That sounds like a terrible deal.
  5. Hiring somebody for recruiting contacts is different than hiring the AAU coach of a top player in order to secure him.
  6. You really think those are the same things?
  7. Not sure on the 15. My guess is that IU has cleared with the B1G that Roth won't be returning and Roth hasn't signed the scholarship paperwork for his 5th year. I thought Roth was on board with being Creaned? Is this Roth leaking to the press that he's not happy with the situation, or is this just a reporter that doesn't know what's going on? I'm guessing it's a reporter that doesn't know what's going on. It would be fun if Roth made a big stink though. I also find it amusing that IU is hiring AAU coaches to get recruits now too. NOW?
  8. This X10000000000 And they throw strikes too... johnny venters has the same career walk rate as kerry wood, and craig kimbrel's career walk rate is worse. Ballgame.
  9. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/18992247/fifteen-guys-for-13-spots-indianas-delicate-scholarship-situation The article kind of misses the point focusing on Roth. He's not being granted a 5th year, that's not uncommon. What confuses me is how Indiana has 15 guys signed when the Big Ten are supposed to only allow one oversigning.
  10. He just knew how to win argle bargle
  11. Holy [expletive] game threads are even worse after the fact.
  12. http://www.csnwashington.com/baseball-washington-nationals/nationals-talk/Leyland-thinks-Hamels-suspension-is-too-?blockID=704138&feedID=6358 Jim Leyland isn't old school
  13. There's a difference between being a moron in public and a moron in the private of your own home. Booing a guy after 2 pitches is really [expletive] stupid.
  14. Yes, this. So everyone is saying they never boo? They never get pissed and punch a wall, say "you suck and so does this team" and so on? What are you people freaking robots? I can honestly say I have never once booed at a game. And I have been to lots of games. I've booed Dusty Baker
  15. I don't know about booing, but I've always thought there was an inverse relationship between meatballness and time spent playing the game. That, I'm not so sure about. Some of the dumbest posters NSBB has seen use their playing days as a point of reference for their meatballness. Think of how much most of the opinions stated here would be shouted down by the morons that actually play in the majors.
  16. The breakdown on the penalties is about as mind-expletive stupid as possible.
  17. Do you agree that the collective IQ of those people booing is at least 10 points lower than those not booing? No, not really. I have come to the conclusion that loads of otherwise intelligent human beings are in general really stupid about sports. Plenty of highly educated people boo and do a lot of other things one could describe as stupid. It has something to do with the whole fanatic thing. Ok, I actually agree with this. It drives me nuts because most of my good friends are really smart people but they are sports meatballs. That's not to say that they're stubborn about it or unwilling to learn, but I can only do so much. I will say this, in my small circle I have noticed the less the person participated in sports the more likely they are to boo. COME ON JUST THROW STRIKES HOW HARD IS IT?
  18. 500 were available for yesterday's game or available yesterday for today's game? Both. I check out the prices for fun fairly often, there is literally never a point where there are 0 tickets available for the bleachers. It didn't take long for a few cheap sets to pop up, followed by a market correction, and now you have 8 tickets going for $50-99, while all other seats stay around the cost that yesterday's were going for.
  19. Agreed. I don't see the point in trying to rush him back tonight. The point would be that if they lose tonight, he has all offseason to heal the sprain. I'm not suggesting playing him for 40 minutes, but if there are times where he can make an impact on the offensive or defensive end, and he's not blocking anyone else from playing, I think you suit him up if he says he can go. Or he re-injures himself because he's playing when he's still injured, rather than trying to gut out a win without him then having him actually contribute the rest of the way.
  20. There were 0 bleacher tickets available on stubhub this morning, after there were ~500 available yesterday. I'm intrigued as to what happened there. Ambitious broker trying to make 5-10 on each one? But then why buy all the way up to the most expensive tickets? (Cheapest tickets yesterday bounced from 8-15 bucks)
  21. He didn't care about doing well until some buffoon told him he was. Then he felt bad because CUBS FANS ARE THE BEST FANS IN THE WORLD AND THEY DESERVE MY BEST
  22. I have itchy idiot fingers
  23. Come on, a limping Noah? Sit him tonight, hope there's a game 6 for him to be 100%ish
  24. Soriano and Rose's athleticism helped mask their deficiencies. Those other guys you listed(except Lum who I've never heard of) are some of the worst defensive OFers to put on the uniform. You don't want to give back everything you gain on offense.
