Maybe I'm being too much of a sports nihilist, but if you're not winning it all, what does it matter? If you think you're closer to a title by shedding salary and setting up a move or moves down the road, you should do it even if it makes you weaker in the short term. Unless you're talking development time for Butler-2012 draft pick, I don't see how shedding those 3 does anything for the Bulls.

he gives out dumb contracts to free agents and some of his own guys, but there's really no track record of him taking on bad players with horrendous contracts. Not sure I understand the difference in handing out hilarious contracts to free agents vs taking on a hilarious contract in a trade.

The thing is, if you let Watson, Brewer, and Korver go and Rose and Deng are out for half the year, what kind of record does this team put up? They should still be able to make the playoffs without an issue, but that could easily wind up a 6 or 7 seed unless you make that MLE really count.

So the Bobcats pick. It's unprotected in 2016, and the Bobcats should be terrible for as long as Jordan owns the team. The problem is, a #1 in 2016 is too late for this roster. It'd be nice to have an instant rebuild in 2016, but what kind of shape is Rose going to be in by that point if he keeps playing the type of style he does now? Is anyone else from the current roster still going to be around? Basically I'm asking how long do you have to wait before the 2016 pick is valuable enough to trade away for a present day piece. If you have to wait until the '14-'15 season, then yeah don't bother, but if other teams realize how miserable Charlotte's franchise is, you've gotta dump that pick and go for it now before Rose disintegrates.

Appreciate that Rob, I go with navy blue used by my Alma Mater Marquette. Though the carolina blue jerseys we wear now are really sweet too. Did not know there were two fellow Marquette alumni broadcasting in the Cubs' system! Awesome. I notice they're not attempting to get jobs in Milwaukee for some reason. -
