    They probably could, but I think a Garza/Vitters combo might at least keep us competitive with most teams. Doubt it. Any Upton talks would likely start (and end) with Castro. If the D-Backs are holding out for a Castro talent in return, they won't be trading Justin Upton to anyone. He's signed to a 3/38.5M deal after this season and there are concerns about his shoulder.

    He's gone. Seriously. There are too many teams competing right now, especially with the new wild card. Add a lot of pitcher injuries and not much competition on the market and it makes too much sense not to. Actually, there are very good reasons not to. Like wanting to compete for one of those newfangled 2nd wild cards in the future.

    ok, "they could have easily beat them". they blew the big lead in the second half of game 3 after noah left, then the horrible meltdown at the end of game 6. even game 4 they were in until the end, and game 2 was a ridiculous fluke shooting performance by philly. [expletive], if the cj watson play doesn't happen, it would have gone to a game 7 in chicago where the bulls would have been favored. the 76ers definitely deserved to win, but the point is that the bulls weren't really outplayed by much at all. boston should have handled that team a lot easier if they were to be considered a legit threat in the east. I don't get to play the excuse game with Boston's losses?

    I can't imagine a scenario where Reinsdorf allows anyone to be amnestied. He won't go into the luxury tax for a team that was the #1 seed the last 2 seasons.
