  1. Pffft. That's just reasonable fan concern. Nothing wrong with that! you were complaining about the thread. Don't be a hypocrite now. If there were actual death threats, the odds that they came from a couple of the lunatics on here are rather high. about as high as the odds that southsideryan will always pretend he's too cool to ever get upset about something bad happening to the Cubs. At least in the last 4 hours. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=61253&p=2834853&hilit=hamels#p2834853
  2. I wouldn't trust him to drive Dempster to the airport. Dempster would just give him the wrong directions on purpose.

  4. [expletive] Stop equating Dempster and Garza being on the team. Garza is a good [expletive] pitcher, is young, and is signed next year. He'll look great on a 75 win team. So will Starlin Castro, [expletive] him too. Don't get me started on Anthony Rizzo, I bet we could get Brian Matusz AND Chris Tillman for him.

  6. This didn't get the attention it should have. Colletti is either playing russian roulette with his rotation or he has a deal in place for a SP(which may or may not be Dempster). I still don't get the 24 hour thing. If Dempster wanted to approve a deal to LA, and a deal was agreed to yesterday, I don't see why it would take until said moratorium passed to get out, anyway. It's to prevent a team from rushing a veteran through the process and having to make a snap decision
  7. This is his #1 destination. We should probably kill him just to be sure. You hold on to Dempster because a draft pick or Dempster at 12.5M is a better deal we'd get in return for him. Dempster at 12.5M next year has to be the worst case scenario. The team probably isn't going to be very good and he won't have as much value in a trade next summer. It'd just be a big, fat waste of an asset. And they're also projected to have a 40M payroll with Rick Porcello and 2 28 year old Orioles prospects in the rotation.

  9. This team is going to [expletive] suck next year
  10. I love how the fact that another great pitcher won't be available in the offseason is good news for us because now we can trade our best pitcher.
  11. also for the good pitching the last 5 years. It's his job. We give him money, he gives us good pitching. He also earns the right to not be traded without his consent.
  12. What can they do really? Sit him? I don't think that's likely. They can let the people in this thread throw rotten vegetables at him. Even that's too good for him, this is 2012.
  13. That makes no sense, at all. The paradigm of Dempster's decision did not change with the "leak." (If he thought he could make the decision, turn down the trade offer to the Braves, and never have that become public knowledge, he's foolishly naive -- the media is quite good at discovering such information.) Remember a couple pages ago when it wasn't kosher to be annoyed with Dempster? That was cute. It was never kosher to be a raving [expletive] lunatic before you knew what was going on.
  14. Maybe if he spent less time doing Haray Caray impersonations, he'd be more ready for the trade.
  15. If Marmol comes in, absolutely. He hasn't blown a save since April
  16. Neither of them are capable of playing the field.
  17. Hard to tell what is sarcasm and what is not... Really? It was hard to tell when the Cubs got what is widely being considered a great return? How about we just let this go. How about you go eat a sandwich by yourself.
  18. Just imagine how good the return would have been if he didn't torpedo his value in his last start
  19. If we trade Camp, are we just going to start forfeiting games in the 7th inning?
  20. How well received was Len early on? All I really remember were people bitching about a Kermit voice and that his home run calls were lame. Like you said people ripped on his voice, but the fact that he followed Chip Caray helped him a lot. His dropping stats from the get-go won me over.
  21. Stubby Clapp and Gene Stechschulte references. [expletive] love Len.
