  1. What? No. I'm intrigued, what exactly would you expect? You can't seriously think it would be something like Upton+Bauer+ one of Skaggs/Bradley. What would I expect if the Cubs traded Castro to the Diamondbacks? A riot.
  2. Compared to who? Their perception where they've occupied 5 spots in the top 10 all season and already have a bye to the Championship?
  3. He's at SMU for the next 26 days or so.
  4. Can we talk about the SEC just not being that good?
  5. But what if they're trading him for a worse player who's older, more expensive, and signed for less years?
  6. You can't just conjure up an Anthony Rizzo.
  7. You're right, lets give Sanchez 7/100. That'll work out just swell I'm sure! Do you think when our window opens up in 2016 that there will be a good, young SP signing a 4/40 deal or something?
  8. After you disquailfy all the best pitchers, yes it's pretty good that we got one that isn't one of the best.
  9. I mean, yeah, I guess it makes sense from the implied plan, but that just ensures yet another [expletive] sandwich come 2014.
  10. That read to me like a repeat of last offseason. -Not a lot of redundancy at the minor league levels means some more Ian Stewart trades and hope you get another kickass Rizzo deal. -Being disciplined means not spending much more than what you judge a player to be worth, meaning more 1-2 year deals for averageish SPs -Small opportunities to get better means making a million waiver claims on a million live bullpen arms.
  11. Harden's 12 starts for the Cubs in '08 generated more bWAR than McCarthy's entire '11 lol at bWAR It's much better than fWAR at describing what happened. Wins are great at describing what happened, too. So are RBIs. I'll take the one that's much better at describing how well the pitcher pitched. You'll take the one that's much better at describing how well the pitcher would likely pitch if you replayed the season 1000 times.

  13. I guess I don't see how it's relevant at all to say he was 50th in the PCL when half the guys ahead of him are Scott Moore
  14. He wasn't exactly raking. Vitters performed above expectations in AAA this year but he didn't do anything special. Had he, then maybe he makes an appearance. The guy was about 50th in the PCL for OPS. I doubt Jackson would have been much higher if he stayed in AAA and they pretty much had the same ugly start in the majors. 46th, and all of one guy ahead of him was younger than him (Wil Myers, and Rizzo was the only other guy even the same "baseball age" as him) I believe Iowa is also one of the least hitter friendly of the PCL parks.
  15. Here was the original story from ESPN 1.5 years ago regarding Mark Adams and A-Hope. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/news/story?id=6587668
  16. Maybe IU's history of having no regard for the rules came into play.
  17. Pee on the stadium. And some people there. Regardless of affiliation.
  18. Yay for self-promotion in a way that is actually, technically, just helping out Dave! http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/11/06/the-cubs-are-one-of-five-teams-showing-concrete-interest-in-korean-lefty-hyun-jin-ryu/ You should know you can feel free to promote any of your content here, but you may need to be prepared to defend yourself if you really are a fan of Kaplan! Haha, thanks, Tim. I would say I am a fan of many things that Kap does well. wait, dave kaplan killed himself? Yes...he did it himself...
  19. I know you were drunk but I said their best defender, not the league's
  20. James Franklin is just terrible.
  21. The Bulls haven't beaten a team as good as last year's Hawks team since 1998. You're awful. Please go away. http://hellogiggles.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/07/alanis-morissette-ironic-4490-1232076325-31.jpg
  22. Oregon is only a 9 point favorite @USC last I saw. I don't get it.
