  1. Because the team is very bad and this is a prime avenue to improve the team both now and down the line. It appeared to be a prime avenue, before the Dodgers started printing money and giving everyone in sight outlandish contracts. Well might as well stop trying until they go bankrupt again.
  2. Those were former walk-ons, and there are no comments from them complaining about the situation.
  3. I'm not saying Tom Crean is molesting kids(but I'm not saying he's not either). I'm talking about the creepy cult of Indiana basketball. I think that died awhile ago. Kel-vin Samp-son chants as he was walking down death row and sell out crowds for the worst major conference basketball team I've ever seen.
  4. As I've said many times, a player had already agreed to go off scholarship. Yes, the mythical player who would pay his own way, passed down from generation to generation to rationalize shoving a kid off the team. And you can enter a school year with 14 scholarship basketball players? That's news to me. It is so unheard of that two kids did so at Louisville last year. Link? Patterson was denied admittance to the university on August 15th. School usually starts sometime around there-a week later.

  7. IU is the Penn State of the basketball world. This isn't far-fetched. 9th most valuable who would've hogged up a scholarship for 4 more seasons. Because you can't practice with 14 scholarship players? You let him take the summer classes because you hope the situation clears itself up. Maybe Derek Elston gets arrested, maybe Remy Abel has an unfortunate base jumping accident. Have you ever heard of a player who leaves a school under these circumstances badmouth the coach/program on his way out?
  8. Patterson couldn't make the grades at Indiana, but could at Syracuse. I wouldn't think a school where seemingly every basketball player is graduating in 3 semesters would be that difficult to get into.
  9. I think it's disingenuous to lump Concepcion (and to a lesser extent Jin) in with Soler, Cespedes, Darvish, and Puig. I know he's older, but why is Chen never included in these calculations?
  10. I think the criticism comes from the fact that the Cubs are spending no money on the major league product, so they should be expected to be spending an assload on the minors.
  11. Don't you understand the well was poisoned????
  12. It's not really close between Prince Fielder and Starlin Castro on who has been the better offensive player either. As long as we ignore the other 8 factors that come into play, I think we should pull the trigger on that one.
  13. By time the season is over Oregon's schedule will be close to KSU and ND's.
  14. Some mook in the Harris poll voted Bama #1. The AP voter from South Bend voted SEC teams 4-9.
  15. Why would ND being in a conference have helped them?
  16. All Castro has to do to match Cabrera's offensive output is to have negative 2 more seasons of above average hitting.
  17. Cabrera? Orlando Cabrera? hahhaahaaha
  18. Should we pretend like there wasn't a hitting coach change coinciding with Starlin's improved patience?
  19. It's not our fault, those other 14 teams above us are just spending like drunken sailors is all.
  20. What a horse [expletive] [expletive] spot
  21. This sums up why I think it's a bad idea to depend on trading for young studs when it's time to start trying. With 1/3 of the teams making the playoffs every year and every team being flush with cash thanks to MLBAM and absurd TV contracts, there just aren't going to be many teams starting the year not looking to contend or not being able to afford their young talent.
  22. Will everyone please stop
  23. What a terrible call. Both of his hands were over the goal line.
