  1. Villanueva will make 5M next year Nate is Arb 3 eligible Valbuena is Arb 2 eligible.
  2. I think they expected this year's team to not be such a [expletive] sandwich, thus keeping attendance/revenues fairly steady. In the range of $20M or more off? And then in seeing that decide what exactly, keep slashing to turn around attendance? No idea, what's a drop in 300,000 in attendance, about ~12M in ticket revenue? Add in concession losses, rooftop losses, Captain Morgan losses, no idea what that adds up to, but that would seem to be close enough.

  4. I can't begrudge you that line of thinking, it's just really difficult for me to think that Ricketts is going to 1) cut payroll 20% 2) not funnel any revenues from renovations or TV deals back into the team and as a result, 3) put together a product that's sure to continue draining millions in attendance and concession opportunities. Especially since he hasn't done any of those things yet, and he'll need to do all of them for the Cubs to be handcuffed to the extent you're saying here(considering those revenues, the money coming free with Soriano, the fact that there aren't many/any huge raises upcoming, etc). You mean again? Because he's already done #s 1 and 3.
  5. Talked about what an [expletive] he is.
  6. Seems unfair to not let Kurkjian have that one
  7. I mean maybe it's all Theospeak and none of it means anything. I'd feel a lot better if it was some hack journalist that wrote the piece rather than Mooney. I just don't get how you can shrug off the Jackson quote. I'll have to do some digging, but I feel like similar quotes were made prior to last offseason and we wound up with Edwin Jackson and a rock.
  8. Is this in regards to the "multiple impact" quote? And I'm not sure what your issue is with the parenthetical. Is it that Theo doesn't address that he's talking about Jackson directly? Or is it the "(again)" that you take issue with? Because, honestly, I don't see how either one tells a different story.
  9. I think it's the Cubs that do that. I mean, I can only pore over so many lists of who's coming back from rehab, who had a bad year with good peripherals that will want to sign a make-good one year deal, and what mediocre talent is going to get shut out and have to settle for a 3/14M contract. Trust me, I'd love it if somebody came along and refuted that quote in some meaningful way, something that pointed to Ricketts giving any sort of commitment to actually making the major league team acceptable next year, but until then, yeah I'm pissed off.
  10. That's the vomit-inducing quote I'd seen prior that made me burn things.
  11. i wonder if vitters will be in another organization come next year. depends on 40-man roster space and how highly the cubs view him, i assume. seems like he's being passed by pretty much everybody. If he can handle the OF, I'd imagine he enters the year in the Scott Hairston role.
  12. Hollandsworth and Kaplan circle jerking about fundamentals on the postgame.
  13. Yeah odds are you'll have at least 3 of Baez, Vitters, Olt, and Villanueva starting at AAA next season, so you have to move somebody, and considering Olt and Villanueva are both good with the glove, Vitters had to go.
  14. Somebody to more than a 2 year deal for me. I fear what impact means in that quote.
  15. Hopefully Dusty 2004 Cubses the 2013 Reds
  16. http://filmdope.com/Gallery/ActorsC/4031-10931.jpg Touché I... who the F*** is that? I'm pretty sure that's the illiterate chick from A League of their Own who couldn't tell if she was on a roster or not. If I'm right, I don't get the joke. Shirley Baker
  17. How is one less athletic than Dayan Viciedo?
  18. No, that's what he and Hill projected out be as prospects before showing they were not capable of that. Hill was a 3 pitch pitcher with an average to below average fastball and a below average change. He was never viewed as a top of the rotation guy as a ceiling, more like 3-4 if everything worked out. Marshall was similar with a slightly better fastball and ceiling. Really, because people(media not fans) were picking him to win the Cy Young his rookie year and having that type of talent. Hahahaha, wtf??
  19. Kellogg was terrible
  20. If you're a playoff contender, you're a world series contender. Punting 4 [expletive] seasons would be a disgrace.
  21. Jesus, 2016.
  22. Carlos Gonzalez is really good and signed for 4 more seasons. Unless you're punting until 2018 you make no sense. ETA: Nevermind that that package wouldn't return Cargo
  23. Well yeah, we'll all have sex with his sister. I was the only one chivalrous enough to ask permission
  24. Why would they trade him to begin with, let alone without receiving Baez?
