  1. I'm looking forward to him overtaking Cutler as the most hated QB in the league. It's going to be awesome. He'll be on the Browns, which means no one will pay attention to him at all People usually don't pay attention to 3rd string QBs unless you think he'll have a Tebow effect
  2. Didn't they end up with more turnovers then made field goals? I wish Crean would have used a timeout on the final possession of regulation. Gordon more or less dribbled out the clock to take an awkward shot. Also I didn't like the amount of time Vonleh was on the bench in the final 3 minutes of regulation in addition to the OT but...whatever. Overall IU did better than I expected. But it is still going to be a long Big Ten season methinks. I've quit trying to understand Crean's substitution patterns or timeout usage. He does some weird stuff. I'm not down on the guy completely, he has been a great recruiter. The coaching aspect of his job can raise doubts at times. Overall though he is fine, I'm not ready to cut him loose like some of the fanatics who can't comprehend this year wasn't going to be like last year. Is it just me or does Dakich seem really down on him? I feel like he criticizes him a lot during games.
  3. Seriously guys, Ricketts has a serious gambling problem or heroin addiction #partyboyRicketts
  4. Great, now he won't want to come because we have too many Japanese players. He was trying to get away from them
  5. Besides we already have Wada anchoring our pen. And we can always sign Takahashi for 2 weeks again
  6. Really bukie? You of all people? 68 teams
  7. Can't expect to compete until we get those big money contracts off the books. Additionally, I did not know we had an option on Sweeney in '16
  8. Really thought our lying in wait was gonna work out with him
  9. But they'll get another year of Tanaka Yeah, I'm sure that's why they can't make a decision. He might get them to the NPB World Series. The NPB doesn't exist for the sole purpose of making MLB teams better. You're acting like they're some Frontier League team.
  10. Whatever "Professional baseball team in Japan are acting like a bunch of spoiled 8-year olds" translates to in Japanese. They just lost out on ~35 million dollars due to changes to the posting system, and it's likely they lose nothing by waiting a year to post them. Not sure how they're at fault here.
  11. So what that split tells me is dividing by the Garza trade had literally nothing to do with the difference in W-L based on the bullpen stats
  12. A Lions loss and Packers win would make the result of the Eagles game meaningless (except for potential seeding) I started typing a response to this, and your right it would be meaningless. And really [expletive] weird. Wait, why would a Lions loss and a Packers win make it meaningless? Because the Bears are up 1/2 game on the Packers with a win and down 1/2 game with a loss. The only way it matters is if the Bears-Packers tie in Week 17
  13. A Lions loss and Packers win would make the result of the Eagles game meaningless (except for potential seeding) I started typing a response to this, and your right it would be meaningless. And really [expletive] weird. And if the Cowboys beat the Skins it's meaningless for the Eagles
  14. What the hell for? So he can play on a crappy team for a year, get a 2 year extension, get as many at-bats as possible, and reach 3000 hits/500 SBs... I think Kurt's plan is a little flawed
  15. What am I missing about Wada?
  16. Yeah, Boras represents both, I can't imagine him expecting an Ellsbury contract for Choo
  17. If only I had the power to make posts like this go away... The funny thing is, it actually brings to light just how deep our pen is. If Vera's and Russell are sent packing mid season, we'll have Fujikawa coming back, along with Rusin, Raley, Rosscup, Wada, and a bunch of RHP to replace Russell. The pen can withstand some injuries AND a trade or two, in my opinion. The upside is there and the depth is great. I mostly agree but people said the same thing about the rotation last year and then Villanueva sucked as a starter and Scott Baker was dead for 90% of the year
  18. I'd love to see the Cubs stick to their guns with his development plan. I wonder what the specific benchmarks are (outside of the obvious) that he will have to meet before they bring him up? There is going to be a lot of pressure to do so as quickly as possible. Pretty much from all outside the organization though, which whether you like it or not, the FO has shown they don't give a [expletive] what those forces think/want and aren't going to make decisions based on what they want if those wants don't align with their decision making plans. I agree. And we can only hope that its all from outside the organization. Ticket sales and ratings are pretty important right now. Just sayin'... Then I sure as [expletive] hope the FO cares about them
  19. In all seriousness, what incentive would he have to come here compared to other markets (assuming bidding is similar)? I must've missed the Fukudome mania minus some racist shirts and bandanas. No pressure to win? Being a part of the team that ended the longest championship drought in sports history? I can't imagine most US players give much of a [expletive] about that, let alone a Japanese import, let alone to a team who is terrible.
  20. I do think this 4M with incentives and 5.5 option is a lot. Someone like Wright at a little over a million is a pretty low risk. I'm not totally put off by it, but hopefully there is still some money left for elsewhere, like Tanaka and other bat. The projected payroll is a shade less than 80M right now. Oh I'm not totally concerned about having the money available for Tanaka, but if the miss on Tanaka, wonder what else they'd go spend on, especially since that may drag late into the offseason. They wouldn't unless a Santana or Choo winds up getting Bourned down to a cheap deal
