    Notre Dame sucks. As they always do whenever anyone projects them to be decent. Can't decide if this is better than getting bludgeoned by 20 against a lower seed in March. Take it easy on us, IU. IU barely knows they're playing Notre Dame, I assure you. They're too busy making sure Evan Gordon doesn't jump to play in Europe before the season is over.

    why? makes samardzidja more valuable this season, then we just spend 20 mil next year and negotiate with tanaka. Because I want Masahiro Tanaka in a Cubs uniform more than anything else this offseason. That's why. It's irrational, and I don't care. It's not irrational. Tanaka makes the Cubs better in 2014 and that matters. But it's probably more likely we can afford him next season

    It sounds like really open to interpretation according to the early word on it. Can an infielder still drop his knee in front of a base while fielding a throw. Can the catcher still field a throw in front of the plate but leave his leg draped in the baseline? If the catcher is blocking the basepath and you try to slide, then what? Catcher gets fined, but your team gets an out because you wouldn't bowl him over? Same in reverse?

    If Shark's concerned about the Cubs not contending, I don't think we're inspiring a lot of confidence to change his mind about that extension this offseason

    Now THAT's a bad deal. Volquez has averages -0.4 bWAR and 0.4 fWAR over the last 5 seasons. And he's coming off -2.4 and 0.4 seasons respectively. He doesn't deserve a major league deal.

    For those like me who didn't have any idea, Roberto Hernandez is the artist formerly known as Fausto Carmona. He missed most of 2012 due to an ankle injury, and put up some interesting K/BB numbers last year while showing a very extreme platoon split(.908 OPS to LH). That's been driving me nuts how I couldn't remember a guy named Roberto Hernandez being that good way back when
