  1. I'll eat [expletive] totinos pizza you can get on sale for a dollar, it's delicious.
  2. My takeaway is that I gave Martin too much the benefit of the doubt. He comes off as your typical meathead doof jock in he text exchanges. Coming in with a preconceived notion of who each of them were I was reading them as Martin being passive in the conversations where he'd just go along with whatever incognito said, but the further I got the more I thought he wasn't much different than incognito
  3. Of course, the cubs only play 81 home games. I did bleachers only because it allows you to have more than your 2 tickets sit together when you get a group going to the game
  4. Not sure what I was looking for, through 8 pages, I'm disappointed.
  5. It all depends on how long the "process" takes. I had initially signed up in late '03/early '04 (I think starting around 39,000) and didn't get the call until last year. If the tickets become popular like they were when they were actually good, you can probably make a minimal profit, but with dynamic pricing, the margin for error is much slimmer. If this team remains terrible for the next few years, you might be getting the call in 3-4 years. ETA: Reading the first page tells me it must not have been that early that I signed up, maybe '06? And yes, it's very depressing to read people talking about their spots will never come up short of a plague hitting the city when they're at ~6,000
  6. I'm not getting on it until he pitches again.
  7. I think Darnell is the McDonald with a better chance. He did pretty well at the plate last year and hits from the side we need help at. With Nate needing a platoon mate and lake being far from a guarantee it's basically Darnell or Vitters right?
  8. Looks like a lot of people said no when their numbers came up. I think we figured they went through something like 25,000 people last year(though that may have been expanding the base moreso than people not renewing. Wonder how many they gave the call to this year.
  9. Hammel was not a good starter in a terrible environment in '09 and '10. He was an average starter with good peripherals. FIP and xFIP are great tools, but they don't hand wave away all variance outside of them.
  10. Agreed Rob, and down to the order. I don't know how much of that is based on my acceptance that the team will be [expletive] awful this year compared to my hopefulness in '12 and '13 and how much is Hammel just being the most boring acquisition imaginable.
  11. Hey, Washington, do you know of any bullpen help we could sign? Love always, Jed
  12. We did move out of the bottom 10 though! (Until the rest of the FAs get signed and we probably drop back down)
  13. I'm always glad to see hoops post here... Yeah it's only been a decade since he had a scoop He's due!!
  14. Huh?
  15. This whole stupid argument is going to look dumber in March '15 when we have Valbuena-Castro-Bonifacio-Rizzo as our infield.
  16. Someone's being used suboptimally in that situation. Bryant may be a 3-win 3b but only a 2-win RF. Or Baez may be a 4 win 3B and a 3 win SS. Or Bryant may be a 2 win 3B and a 3 win RF
  17. Sure, we could do that. But that leaves us with a SS who hasn't adapted well to our preferred offensive approach and is probably the only asset on the team with the value to return the kind of pitching we need to be competitive in 2015/16. Our preferred offensive approach is to be a good offensive player. Do we not need an OF to be competitive in 2015/2016?
  18. But what if we have a full set of other 3-win infielders? I can't imagine a scenario where Olt/Villanueva, Baez, and Alcantara have all established themselves as 3 win infielders this season. Bryant/Baez/Alcantara/Rizzo Bryant goes to RF
  19. But what if we have a full set of other 3-win infielders? I can't imagine a scenario where Olt/Villanueva, Baez, and Alcantara have all established themselves as 3 win infielders this season.
  20. Isn't there a rule against that? Iowa being a 4 seed that is.
  21. If any other team cut a 24-year-old outfielder that was a No. 3 overall pick most recently seen putting up an .891 OPS in AAA, we'd be falling all over ourselves to add him. Yeah, but then we'd waive him 5 days later when some other guy with the same exact record came along
  22. Until he doesn't see the ball coming and it detaches his retina...unless...is it like a cartoon? Can't see straight, ball hits you In the eye, bam 20/20
  23. Dude. 8-10? They're 5-3 now. They have 5 home games left vs. OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois. They're going at least 3-2 in those 5. There's 8 right there. The road games are Illinois, PSU, Indiana, Minnesota, MSU. I think they get at least 2 of those. 10-8 is the floor, I still put them at 12-6. I mean, there's like a 5-10% chance we're 8-10. And I know logically that we're really good but I'm a little emotional and crazy when it comes to Iowa sports. 8-10 probably puts you in the tourney
  24. Yeah it should matter that both out 4 and 5 suck and signing a guy who also may suck really doesn't matter. We're not trying to win games this year anyway so who cares
  25. Yeah I haven't gone that far yet but I wouldn't be shocked to have Cabrera outside the top 30
