How many of those count for us because our willingness to bid $120m plus the posting fee? That's the soul crushing part. He's exactly the type of player Theo said they wanted target. I guess they targeted him but not only did they not hit the bullseye the never made it to the board. I don't remember them being referred to as not having come close. We know that for sure? We weren't willing to give a NTC or an opt out, before figuring in that we were a few million/year short.

Well, he's kind of sucked this year. But yeah, they aren't giving up 6 years of Gray or w/e for a year or so of Samardzija. Eh?? 3.22 ERA with 34 Ks, 5 BBs, 3 HRs in 36.1 IP?

My dream would be Mike Trout straight up for Shark, and I'd throw in Dunston and Amaya if need be. ETA: The problem in looking for a ML ready arm in return for Samardzija, is that if a playoff contending team had a ML ready arm, he'd probably be in their rotation already.

In other words, no matter what, even if the Cubs make the playoffs every year after this year, Kyle is going to keep his act up until *at least* 2018. That's the utter brilliance of it all. You're the one who said it's a failure if they only go 3 times, which would leave you in doubt on the Epstein regime until... after the 2019 season ETA: Or after the 2018 season if they still haven't made it in which case I quit everything.

It's too bad Cubs fans are such stupid lemmings because I'd love a Krause-level of boos for him when he hoists the trophy after THE PLAN comes to fruition in 2032. Or I guess worst case one of his doofus kids has to be our Rocky Wirtz come 2045.

I don't know, either Theo was ok with those shitty conditions or he lied to him. I'm sure he could have done the same in 2010. I don't think that's a very realisitic judgment considering that looks like a 5 out of 6 run to close out their 10 year period. Something Theo couldn't do with Boston when he had an owner worth more than $9.73 ETA: Strike that they went 5 out of 6 from '04-'09 after inheriting one of the best teams in baseball AND having an owner ranked above 29th in MLB at funds and lack of revolting creepy smiles

This all started because somebody wrote something stupid to continue the narrative that everything done pre-Theo was an unmitigated nightmare and that's why we'll be terrible indefinitely until it makes sense to try. And there are few here, but good Lord is BN becoming intolerable with the sunshine lollipops and rainbows about a 4-86 team with every prospect failing.

Everything is [expletive], based on the fact that this team is still [expletive] many years after regime change and is not anywhere close to being good. My post was about the pathetic insistence on the apologists to place all the blame for the current state of affairs on people not currently affiliated with the Cubs and grossly exaggerating the lack of young talent that was here pre-Theo. Why do you get so upset with fans who aren't happy with a bad team? No one is HAPPY. But we've taken a course and its where we're at. It may work, it may not. But poking holes in 20 year olds is stupid,(a month into a season) when there are plenty of other things to talk about. I can only talk about Bijan Redemacher for so long. You're looking for the opposite of the Louis CK bit. Everything's shitty and everyone should be ok with it because it's THE PLAN
