  1. I thought that seemed fairly unlikely.
  2. I'd much rather go to a 305 game at wrigley
  3. Errr double negative fail. Meant to say he's the least annoying of all Cubs bloggers. Though it looks like you both understood what I meant.
  4. imb is busy covering executions and concerts and no longer getting BJs so I am here for the sole purpose of complaining about how much Saturday Night games suck. http://images.tvrage.com/people/54/161853.jpg http://images1.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Mr-Woodchuck-full-house-1172602_316_328.jpg 4-4 4.61 ERA, 8.4 K/9, 3.0 BB/9, 0.8 HR/9 vs. http://media.masslive.com/sports_impact/photo/9590765-large.jpg 2014 debut Wood is making up for leaving everyone on base last year by letting everyone on base score this year. Billy Buckner really sucks, but so do we, so here we are. Today's game thread has been brought to you by NCCubFan and viewers like you.
  5. Maybe I don't pay enough attention to him beyond the basics he provides but I've never found him the least annoying of all the cubs blog "celebrities"
  6. I'd make that trade again every [expletive] time
  7. This sis what I'm thinking too. We'll make a futile run at Maeda, wind up with a 1-2 year deal on an OF coming off a disappointing year and probably the same for a SP or 2. I don't think Masterson is happening ETA Markakis, Billingsley, McCarthy?
  8. Still want Prince's contract? Nope which is why I hope we don't sign anybody this offseason too.
  9. Not super relevant but I always feel the need to point out Sosa was on pace for 50 HRs when he broke his hand in 96
  10. We get it, every FA is a bad idea
  11. i remember getting to pick the radio station in the car when i was like 11 and that song came on and my dad was like "wtf is this [expletive]" and changed it immediately BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM I guess Tree's dad wanted to die.
  12. Don't wanna tango with you, I'd rather tangle with him, I wanna smash his [expletive] head in.
  13. If the cubs true talent level is equivalent to their run total than yeah id say donating a 2nd rounder for an improvement to a glaring weakness would have been a good call. People can't play the "hey the cubs are pretty ok look at pythag" card while simultaneously playing the what a waste it would have been to try his offseason we're 11 games under 500 in May" card The problem with Cruz is he may not be capable of playing anywhere
  14. Don't worry banedon, mojo is totally unbiased and has no stake in the game when it comes to Emanuel. He's screwing the cops and teachers by not letting them get whatever they ask for like they have for the previous 50 years #gasoline
  15. update plz .423/.444/.961 This is kind of hilarious.
  16. please educate me some about your definitive understanding of their futures you're all too well-informed of to even bother with differing opinions maybe it can go in the bin with the Carlos Gomez, Rick Porcello declarations for further revisiting at a later date Feisty
  17. There are very few teams that laugh at our current revenue. While true, the vast majority don't have hundreds of millions worth of work to do on their stadium either. The last list I looked at, the Cubs WERE 3rd or 4th, which I remembered surprised me a bit. But there were a decent amount of teams bunched in within a decent range there too. How much of that hundreds of millions are going towards needed infrastructure vs constructing money-making ventures like jumbotrons, gift shops, parking lots, and hotels?
  18. Because Ricketts wanted to avoid going to court and come to a reasonable agreement with an assurance from them that there would be no litigation. Then he's a short-sighted idiot.
  19. Well that all sounds promising.
  20. There are very few teams that laugh at our current revenue.
  21. I know there was talk of buying out the buildings themselves, but reading the articles about the rumored offer/counter it's buying out the contract, not buying the buildings from them, right? They'd still be free to do whatever they want with the real estate, and if the real estate only has value for this narrow purpose then it's probably not that valuable anyway. I think only a few if any still have people actually living in them, so I don't know what kind of infrastructure and zoning work would need to be done, but you could do a lot worse than owning a four-flat across the street from Wrigley Field.
  22. Sure you are. If you don't, it crumbles around you and you have no revenue streams. Yep, they'd have no ability to move anywhere else. Moving elsewhere would cost more than 200M before we even get into the argument of whether they lose revenue by being in Arlington Heights
  23. Really? Are you an architect, Kyle? You can modernize Wrigley Field, give it the revenue streams to make it comparable to other large market parks, and unequivocally not disturb the rooftops...... I don't think he said anything about revenue streams.
  24. Which is why you wonder if Tom didn't have the money for the renovations and now does. The only thing that has changed financially between then and now is the plan calls for more signage and advertising in the outfield.
