I am arguing against the notion that Barney is [expletive] blocking Olt. Olt had his chance to whip his [expletive] out and do something with it but he blew it. Barney's sucking has nothing to do with Olt's [expletive]. Not saying Olt is good at all, but it's possible for guys to blow it early in their careers and, you know, get better. Again, not saying Olt is that guy, but it happens. A lot. This is true. With Olt, we're talking a 25 year old who still has a chance to figure things out and become a perennial 30+ HR guy. With Barney, he's a safe bet to spend the next decade doing what he doing scattered between 7-10 teams. BUUUUUKKKKIIIIEEEEEEE

they really only need to hold them back for, what, like 2 weeks? if they actually even entertained the thought (assuming no further crashing and burning by both in iowa) of holding them past super 2, i'd be legit pissed. I can't see them holding that happening

Well one of the spots is probably going to be awful for a month whip they pretend Bryant needs to play at AAA for a month. I guess what Lake does the rest of the way determines how many more awful spots we have

That's been pretty obvious for at least 6 months now, although there's still a chunk of the fanbase in denial. I see what you're saying, but I also can't imagine them going into next year with a $50-60 million dollar payroll, either. Well no, but not increasing this years payroll where they supposedly rolled over funds from seems a very real possibility

14M for his last 2 arb years basically assumes he sucks Call it 16 million then(still more than Bailey's AAV) if that really bothers you. We already know he's making 5 mil this year, the odds of him making 13+ in arbitration next year are not good. Next year is when he gets to be compared to FAs as contemporaries. I'm kind of expecting 13m to be around what whatever team he's on offers him

Don't know how accurate he is, but Kaplan said on Sports Talk Live last night that he hears Samardzija wants 6/135 (or something like that). Wow. See you later Jeff. Kind of sounds like we're offering Homer Bailey money and Shark wants a bit more than Matt Cain money. I see nothing leading me to believe we're offering Bailey money. The previous offer was an embarrassing 5/60 and you think we raised it by 30M?

Nope. Stanton will be making 25 mill a year in 3 seasons. We've got Castro for 5/43 and an option after this year. I love Stanton, but we've got plenty of options other than Starlin to trade for him. Mojo was probably making the fair assumption that we need to dump salary to fit Stanton into our budget.
