  1. Sportscenter's recap of the game consisted of showing the 3 A's homers. Oh yeah and the Cubs won 8-7.
  2. That's why they're longshots. If the previous 5 all go down in their conference tourneys.(Memphis is the only one I can't fathom losing their conference tourney. If any of the bottom 4 then win out, I think they'd jump the other 5. Not likely at all, but there's a nonzero chance.
  3. Nice, thanks for getting it together again Bukie. That 4th #1 seed race is gonna be interesting. Looks like Gonzaga and Ohio St. are the frontrunners right now, but depending on conference tourneys and the rest of the regular season: Texas, Pitt, and Memphis could all stand a chance. Longshots include Illinois, Tennesee, UCLA, and (even though I thought there was no way a few days ago) North Carolina.
  4. It's a shame that the Riot will be about 12th on the middle infield depth chart after we're done making trades.
  5. I believe DePaul was the only team we had in the tournament that didn't make it. I'm not sure how we did on seedings, but I remember we had Vermont and Louisville overseeded, which looks like they turned out to be the right calls.
  6. I don't get trading Walker period. I don't get trading for another [expletive] middle infielder. I certainly don't get trading Walker so we can get another [expletive] middle infielder. To paraphrase Darren McGavin in a Christmas Story, "The Cubs traded Walker! I don't believe it for Graffanino! Ball through the legs Graffanino, a utility infielder! it's a whole damn team of utility infielders."
  7. Steal underpants? Wow, 5 minutes. Impressive.
  8. Can't believe this wasn't done yet. When did Edmonds change his name to bubbles?
  9. I'm gonna put this here for now cause it's still a little early, and it would probably reach the audience better this way, but would people be interested in doing a mock selection committee again like we did last year? Last year the idea was presented pretty late, so we only had 4 or 5 people doing it. I think it would be better if we could get a few more people involved this time. Just kinda throwing the idea out there now, so people can think it over. And if whoever ran this last year, (bukie, I believe) is reading, I'd appreciate you running it again since I'm pretty incompetent.
  10. Well at least Patrick wasn't as over the top as whoever was calling the Texas game. "HOW CAN YOU DO THAT PJ TUCKER??? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??" Scolding him like he's an 11 year old.
  11. Step 1: Horrible Ballpark and Low payroll Step 2: ? Step 3: World Series Champs!
  12. I agree that Indiana will be in, but 17 wins is far from a guarantee for a major conference team. I don't see Maryland, Clemson, Nebraska, Louisville, USC, making the tourney. Nor do I think Colorado deserves it. None of the current 16 win teams in major conferences (Vandy, Rutgers, Iowa St., ) will get in with just 1 more win either.
  13. Super 2s are based on service time, not skill. Cabrera didn't get called up in '03 til slightly before midseason.
  14. So what exactly is your argument? That the Trib doesn't mind spending money on the team, but they just don't care if it wins? Isn't that completely backasswards logic? Considering they'd make more money by winning with competent management? That is if they're the money grubbing take advantage of lemmings owners you portray them as. Spending money isn't the same as a commitment to win. Not sure what it will take to get that through people's thick skulls, but hey----the record speaks for itself. BUT WHY WOULDN'T THE TRIB COMMITT TO WIN IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO SPEND ANYMORE MONEY??? IT WOULD MAKE THEM MORE MONEY THAT WAY.

  16. Man the Mets haven't tried in years.
  17. Either you're calling Murton a sack, or Clement a sack. Both of which seem pretty out there.
  18. Northwestern had no right to win that game. After I didn't think it could get worse than dribbling the ball of their leg multiple times, they step out of bounds for no apparent reason, and then throw the final inbound pass to the NU bench.
  19. A&M fans decide that it will not.
  20. Perfect ending to the Duke game. Duke loses, and the FSU student body look like morons. I couldn't have drawn it up any better.
  21. NU down 2 at the half. Northwestern is the most boring college basketball team ever. Even their drives to the basket are in slow motion.
  22. Regression?
  23. I don't understand why you have such a problem. He's basically saying I think this guy is going to be amazing if he stays healthy. How can you have an issue with that statement? There's amazing and there's "will be remembered as one of the best pitchers in the history of the game" Clemens, Maddux, and Pedro, those are guys that will be rememberred as some of the best pitchers in the history of the game. Are you really ready to throw a guy with 3 years professional experience in that group? I'm not putting him in the group. I'm saying I don't see how you can have a problem with somebody else thinking he will one day be in that group if he doesn't get injured. Would you have had a problem with somebody who watched a little bit of Clemens as a youngster and proclaimed he would be remembered as one of the greats if he stayed healthy? Yes, because he too would've had 1 year of major league experience which isn't enough for me to start etching his HOF plaque, even with a health caveat.

  25. I would kill for the current bracketology to be true for Illinois. The easiest of the 7s, easiest of the 10s, easiest of the 3s, easiest of the 6s, and easiest of the 1s. Meanwhile, Duke and Nova's brackets look harsh.
