Didn't the Padres do something shady like sign him to a $3-4M deal and then cut him in spring training so they didn't have to pay him? It wasn't really shady. To be fair Northwestern had the 2nd lowest Steal% in the nation ahead of only Quinnipiac. And I would have handed the ball to the Northwestern defender on that 1.2 second in bound pass. He'd take all his time trying to corral it and wouldn't have a chance of getting off a shot.
