  1. I'm surprised OMC didn't post that.
  2. Potential effect on TV revenues I'd guess. I'm not sure how all that works so I can't make any educated analysis though. The solution he mentioned was to make an exception that would allow for the Cubs to be seen via MLB.TV/Extra Innings in the affected markets. Seems like a scary precedent.
  3. Yep, opening up the blackout zones leads to smaller cable deals. Luckily this should be the type of thing that would need to be collectively bargained, and the 2016 CBA should run through the beginning of our new TV deal. Just need to hold out for a couple more seasons.
  4. Would seem to give credence to Crane's comments at the Convention - he said the new commish was very interested in finding a solution for Cub fans caught up in the huge TV blackout area post-WGNA. Isn't this kind of terrible news?
  5. Maybe they had a lot of meetings.
  6. Why? It was a tangent started by the idea that Thibs is lacking because of his playoff record, but the point is that his playoff record is hugely impacted by the Bulls missing their best player for the last two+ playoff runs. If the argument is inconclusive as UMFan said that's fine, I took it as some sort of gotcha that Thibs was a good playoff coach.
  7. This team clearly has issues right now, but do you hear yourself when you get this worked up over a stretch of bad games in January? The Bulls need to prove they can win in the playoffs under Thibodeau for me to have any sort of confidence going forward. They're 17-22 under Thibs in the playoffs in his coaching tenure. Which has what to do with the post you quoted? Plus Thibs' playoff record with the Bulls is skewed by not having Rose for two years. The Thibs playoff record argument is hilarious. 10-7 record in games Rose plays in 7-15 in games Rose doesn't play. Shouldn't it matter that that record was amassed in one postseason, 4 years ago?
  8. Thinking that guaranteeing a 31 year old pitcher $210 million is a bad thing = meatball logic? Sure, okay You think it's worse to pay a guy 210M over 14 years than it is to pay him 210M over 7 years. Yes, that is dumb and meatball.
  9. I'd much rather have Lake over Sweeney. Sweeney's only appeal was his ability to play CF and with Fowler and Alcantara, there is no longer a need for that. What is Lake's appeal?
  10. I would trade all the Luis Valbuenas in the world to avoid this man. I don't care what his politics are. Is he good at baseball? I do care about that mustache though.
  11. It's cloooooose. $15m or whatever? I think he'd pass on that, maybe? I believe it was like 16.1 this year. He can probably get a 4 year deal with a repeat of this past year.
  12. I'm a little concerned that this isn't the first time I've seen Bryant's timeline listed as June.
  13. Depending on the interest rate, the club probably saves about $5M on his contract by deferring. 5M?? What kind of absurdly low interest rates are you expecting?
  14. You sure about that least meatbally statement you made before? Care to retract that statement now that we know that they'll be paying him $15m/year for 14 years? Does paying more of it later rather than sooner somehow make it worse in your mind? Like that is literally the definition of meatball logic.
  15. Proving yet again that players are chasing the top-line number and don't care as much about the true value. Passan is saying 155M winds up free of state taxes due to structure. That sounds...wrong.
  16. This better not mean I have to see Mike Olt in a major league uniform again
  17. The metrics had him as close to average in CF in 2013. He's also played in nothing but huge CFs thus far, and is moving to a small one, so hopefully he can manage to be passable.
  18. It's not the weather. They've been working through the worst of conditions, including the week that highs were in the low single digits. It was the city's delays with moving the water (iirc) lines because what they found when they dug up was older than they anticipated. That I'm guessing, even though they won't say this, and they probably delayed it so they could make their changes to the plans. The water lines was a month tops, this is a 2 month delay.
  19. You can't believe that people are mocking them for the first step in a rehab that is already 3 years delayed, is being delayed?
  20. The email they sent out to Bleacher Season Ticket holders put a specific date on it of up until May 11th for when the relocation/refunds will take place.
  21. CRAAAAAAAAAAAANE puts target dates at early May for LF bleachers, late May for RF. That's...disappointing.
  22. I don't think I would ever stop shaking my head if in attendance
  23. This Ricketts family Q&A has turned into people reading prepared monologues of praise. I'll bet it was screened. Roast distributed pictures of me to the guy working the line
