  1. That's 100% false. Service time is based on time spent in the majors. Whether Bryant signed the day of the draft or when he did is immaterial, he was being held down regardless so the Cubs could own his rights in 2021.
  2. MLB owners have by far highest share of revenue among the big 4. define by far I'm not sure where those numbers are generated from but from the respective CBAs: NBA NFL

  4. That was the comparison I was making. For as much as people are burying Javy for his contact rate he still had a z-contact rate equivalent to rookie Rizzo. Or compare it to whoever, an 80% z-contact is not bad as a rookie, and to me is a bright spot that is worth acknowledging. It's just a really narrow comparison that really doesn't do much of anything to justify the general comparisons to Rizzo people still insist on trotting out just because Rizzo struggled with the Padres. Well, there is one aspect that is slightly promising, as much as I hate the comparison After the horrid start with lots of swings and misses, Rizzo made mechanical adjustments (he has actually done this successfully twice now so he is clearly some sort of swing savant), implemented them at Iowa for a few weeks and then came up and did much better. If it came about because of an instructor in our system, I'd feel a lot better.
  5. Mid-June when they feel safe about Super 2, playing 3B, bumping Bryant to LF
  6. Leaked plans for Sky Box on Sheffield's new billboard plans.
  7. Not strike out 1 out of 3 times up. He's done that every year in the minors.
  8. People mocked the Astros medical staff for thinking there was an issue with his elbow because other name doctors disagreed. Aiken's elbow pops. If they should be mocked it would be for not doing a more thorough medical examination before the draft, not for reducing an offer on what they perceived to be damaged goods.
  9. Pretty long. Better question, what are the odds Javy doesn't get called up until he has an extra year of service time? I imagine with the demotion they're going to want him to mash AAA for a bit along with a non-embarrassing K rate. That's a month-1.5 months right there. He needs 77 days in the minors to gain the extra year. So when is that, late June? June 21st would push back his clock.
  10. approximately the same as his odds of being killed or seriously injured in some sort of accident. So his odds of being traded to St Louis basically? DAMMIT TO HELL
  11. approximately the same as his odds of being killed or seriously injured in some sort of accident. I would say somewhere close to double, or maybe even triple those odds. What if we traded him to the Cardinals?

  13. not really, bryant to minor league camp was a fait accompli. Baez's situation was in question I think he meant the team's intent, not CT's wording. Give everyone else something else to talk about so the Bryant argument doesn't loop back through the media in full force again. Yep, not that I think it'll affect much, but every second spent discussing Baez's demotion is one not spent on Bryant.
  14. Burying the lede a bit?
  15. DePaul's hiring process is akin to some of the perpetually bad BIG football programs. Aim low with your hire, guarantee really results. Rinse and repeat Process was actually fine until the end. Both Hurley and Drew were on campus and would have been GREAT hires. They said no, so they panicked. It's a [expletive] disaster. Somebody reported that both really wanted the job, but I'd bet a hell of a lot of money that was spin, especially for Hurley.
  16. Is there still concern that he may not qualify? It's really the only justifiable reason for him to not be at Illinois.
  17. Baseball Reference's Play Index is free through April 15th. http://www.sports-reference.com/blog/2015/03/get-a-free-baseball-reference-play-index-trial-through-april-15/
  18. I guess I've never listened to him outside of tourney season
  19. I pretty much never listen to Sports Radio, but it has to be Gottlieb.
  20. It is pretty bad anymore, no argument here hate hate hate hate hate I don't even understand where people got this from.
  21. And Sean Miller should be torched for not fouling down 5 with 52 seconds left. Moronic. Best case you stop them, get the ball with 17 seconds, hit a quick 3, and put Wisconsin on the line with 8 seconds needing 2 FTs to ice the game?
  22. Wisconsin has the best offense in college basketball. It's what they do. Well they don't do THAT
