  1. You'd really better be sold on Bryant as a 3B long term if you trade Castro for an OFer that isn't some great young CF who I can't think of (and said CFer would have to be great enough to be worthy not only of trading Castro for, but doing so while we have a perfectly good CFer on the roster, albeit for one year). Nothing wrong with moving Fowler to LF in that situation.
  2. This. Opening Day 2009 against Colorado was played in a 38 degree constant drizzle, miserable to sit through, although Ted Lilly taking a no-no into the 8th softened the blow. The Fukudome game in 2008 against Milwaukee was pretty bad too if I remember right. Fukudome game in 2008 was humid and a little drizzly but temperature was nice...was overcast but warmish by opening day standards, iirc. Wow. It looked drearily miserable and freezing on TV. http://farmersalmanac.com/weather-history/60641/2008/03/31/ IIRC it started off cooler and warmed up to near 60 as the game went on. definitely one of the less painful openers i've been to. been to every opener since 2007...i'd say 2008 was the second least painful after 2010, which was gorgeous. 2009 had to be the most miserable as far as weather goes. 2013?? It was like 75 in the sun. Granted, the team was painful.
  3. At this point, it'd be worth it to push it back for KB Miles said July or September
  4. If we delay the first few homestands, we should be able to get the bathrooms up and running.
  5. The amount of money I'd pay to have Roast still working there is embarrassing.
  6. So continue peeing on the walls?

  8. I know [expletive] all about construction, but can somebody assuage my worries that doing half the grandstand should be at least as large an undertaking as doing the bleachers area?
  9. Yeesh Yeah, I'm with you. Not only was this the phase most susceptible to delays (because of both the scope of work itself, the utility work because of the narrowing of the street, and the fact that the outfield "sweep" stuff was the largest point of contention and the one most likely to be interfered with by a million and one factors), but it wasn't actually delayed by weather. It was delayed mainly by the plan alterations and I'm not sure why nobody has picked up on that. A week of extreme cold in February that backed up the steel work a bit didn't cause this thing to go into May and June like they've said and that shouldn't be hard to see. I assumed most people outside of Bleacher Nation realized that. You'd think so, but all you hear in the media is DUR HUR ITS COLD IN CHICAGO IN THE WINTER WHO KNEW?! I'm not sure what you're saying here. They're mocking the Cubs for trying to pass of the cold as an excuse.

  11. I wouldn't point to Gioskar Amaya as an example of that turnaround.
  12. I'd rather [expletive] in a porta-john It's not just that, but the huge portions of revenue they're gonna miss out on anyways, with the legitimate concern that we could see similar delays and lost revenue in the subsequent phases. 1.) Highly doubtful they'd be getting full revenue playing at Miller Park, anyway. I sincerely doubt they'd be selling out every game and it'd probably cost them something significant to play there for a full year. 2.) This doesn't make much sense to me. As it currently stands, Phase One should essentially be complete come mid-June. From what I can tell, it would seem like this is the most difficult and extensive phase as they are building a significant portion of the stadium from scratch. That said, since it will be done by June and Phase Two won't begin until next offseason anyway, where's the delay coming from besides more cold weather/force majeure type stuff? Should they play the next several years at Miller just in case there's delays each offseason? Aren't they supposed to do some extensive work to the grandstand? The point is if you play a season elsewhere, you do work yearround.
  13. Interesting take on Tanaka's adjustments from CJ Nitkowski.
  14. That's all WGN. WGN America broadcasts aren't a thing anymore. over/under 89 times this needs to be explained during the season.
  15. It might be better than the Tigers.
  16. At least as of last year they had Green Line at a few places, much better than crappy 312 Pale
  17. I love TT's Scully hate so much.
  18. Duke is almost certainly better coached than Kentucky.
  19. Neither did Oscar Taveras. Too soon? I might or might not have told a drunk Cardinals fan who was jeering at Lester and referencing his dead arm that a dead arm is better than a dead outfielder. (I did do that, Cardinal fans bring the worst out of me.) I really like this.
  20. Yeah, I don't anticipate the port-a-potty plan ending well
  21. I assume that was a typo and you meant to say piss on Beth Murphy
  22. At the end of a season. We've also spent 5 days in-season over .500 in the years since.
