  1. I didn't know Joe Don Baker was ever in shape
  2. Who knew home cooking existed at Northwestern?
  3. The SEC is an amorphous blob of bubble teams after Kentucky. All of their best wins are against each other except for LSU who beat WV. And then LSU proceeded to lose to the 3 worst teams in the conference.
  4. I'm pretty sure Brett knows exactly why it's being done.
  5. My 1 bid conferences: SWAC MEAC WAC ASun AmEast NEC BSky SoCon Big South Patriot OVC Summit Sun Belt Metro Colonial Horizon Ivy Big West MAC I only have ODU and Stephen F Austin as potential at-larges from CUSA and Southland, and they're pretty big longshots to be worthy. ETA: So eliminating those last 2, that leaves 47 spots from the remaining 11 conferences.
  6. I feel like a huge idiot for passing on the MC pre-sale now. I was foolishly hoping to get some during the regular STH presale to sell figuring the 15% premium might be too ambitious to set out to beat in the secondary market. The hype is out there. Eh, in talking to the guy I share tickets with and reviewing the emails they've sent, I'm not sure they made all tickets available for the MC sale. Here's the actual language:
  7. Wow. I'm not even sure Opening Day sold out last year. ETA: It didn't
  8. Purdue is the #11 free throw shooting team in the B1G
  9. Leadoff triple down the line in his first PA
  10. He hit like .371 for us down the stretch in '04 as a Nomar injury replacement.
  11. Ventura unless there's no innings min per week.
  12. He spelled Jeff right.
  13. Castro will enter that modern top 30 this year. Ideally Rizzo does as well
  14. Grand Slam vs. the Phillies in late August '08 That was awesome too. Was that the game Hamels was shutting us down all night and then we came back against the pen? Bingo
  15. Grand Slam vs. the Phillies in late August '08
  16. RUNOFF
  17. Couple days after. And they really had easy plausible deniability then because Pure Pig's Anus was an all-star at 1B and the team was clearly terrible.
  18. Thought I remembered you taking issue with the whole "how much better is he really going to be than his 'replacement' in 15 games" thing maybe you did and you still didn't have an issue with waiting to call him up this year (once they didn't call him up last year), which, then, my bad for misinterpreting I did take issue with the logic behind it, but I don't have a big issue as long as they don't keep him down an excessive amount of time for appearances.
  19. So do you think it's bold or is it as much of a no-brainer as you're arguing it to be? Either way, nope, not happening. And I counter that they'd look like short sighted idiots (SSR is going to get mad at this post) if they broke camp with him. I think maybe, if Boras wasn't his agent they might give it a second thought. What's the precedent for a team breaking camp with a guy with the prospect status of Bryant and forgoing holding him down to gain the year of FA? Has it ever happened? The Braves did it with Heyward. He homered off Z that opening day. And they made the playoffs by one game. Also, apparently Heyward's middle name is Alias.
  20. So do you think it's bold or is it as much of a no-brainer as you're arguing it to be? Either way, nope, not happening. And I counter that they'd look like short sighted idiots (SSR is going to get mad at this post) if they broke camp with him. Why would I get mad at that? I'm pretty sure I've said almost the exact same thing. If they felt there was anything he could do to break camp with the team in 2015, he should've been up in August 2014 along with everyone else.
  21. It was 10-2 because Illinois was mugging everyone. It was the old Izzo style, foul every possession and argue each one of them so eventually they won't call them all. Groce was arguing the foul on Egwu where he was holding a guy back with an outstretched arm the entire time he went after a loose ball in clear space. He was arguing because the Iowa guy(I don't know, one of their white doofs) hooked him first.
  22. Because most times service time has nothing to do with holding a guy down 3 weeks. Justin Grimm has spent parts of 3 seasons in the majors yet, he wouldn't be eligible for FA for another 5 seasons.
  23. I was pretty sure the rules said > 10 days, but I have seen the same reports as you. Three weeks is more than enough to get that control. I think it's 12 days, Brett's been saying 9 games(due to off days) for the last 8 months.
  24. Because the refs were making terrible calls and they knew it so they let him go. The non-charging call where Iowa actually got an and 1 on the alley oop was particularly awful. I'm still not sure what the call even was there.
  25. Ideally this would have happend a couple months ago, and the Bulls traded for Rondo. That would've been fun.
