  1. Theriot did a nice job getting to 2nd on Kosuke's bunt, but he's gotta be at 3rd on that fly out.
  2. Can't be. That would mean Stone was wrong about Harden's fastball losing velocity. Stone can't be wrong. Stone has been wrong, but he's also right a hell of a lot more than people around here give him credit for. He's also wrong a hell of a lot more than 95% of people give him credit for.
  3. I'm kinda worried about Geo never getting days off.
  4. I'm more worried about Bay being a Cardinal for the future. This year, I'd love for them to go crazy on rentals and lose one of Anderson or Rasmus, but I don't like them improving their team long-term.
  5. Check around some p2p sites. I've never had to do it, but I know there's some stuff out there.
  6. I apologize but this is just really heavy handed sarcasm right?
  7. McLouth was 2-4 years younger than Fuld at their corresponding levels.
  8. he already is a good pitcher for them; he will become a very good pitcher for them There was nothing wrong with that gun as I was there and he was throwing that hard!!! Sean was pumped for the first few innings as he wanted to make a good impression with his new team........ I sat near a few scouts and can't repeat what they had to say about Sean's performance tonight. He's so much more relaxed and loves that he's going to get the ball every fifth day..... =D> Glad to hear it Mr. G, wishing the best for Sean (barring games against the Cubs), and hope you'll still stop in from time to time.
  9. Dave Dombrowski would never stop laughing.
  10. I bet Wuertz is down til an injury or September. It was gonna be him once Eyre came up anyway, now Hart or Marshall will go down when we get rid of the assinine 13 man staff, and the other will go when Eyre comes back.
  11. yeah at least a couple of cub fans in this thread haven't learned the lesson about cautious optimism. last time i checked we don't have the greatest track record, so people probably shouldn't be crowing like we have the division locked up. milwaukee is a very good team, and their chances of advancing in the playoffs probably aren't much worse than ours. We will make the playoffs barring a bunch of injuries(not even including Harden in the "bunch") Milwaukee will make it as long as Sheets stays healthy. If he gets hurt I'd still say they're better than 50/50. There's just not a lot of good teams in the NL. Our(and Milwaukee's) track records have nothing to do with anything.
  12. ah. see i take a different belief- rather him not having the opportunity of throwing a perfect game or two down the line hurt than having the opportunity. him being down brings up some scrubs from AAA as well as the possibility of a trade including prospects weakening them more. of course if you typed that in sarcasm green, i can't tell because my browser setup is all white text on a black background. The scrubs from AAA would be better. And I don't mean that in a wahhhhh the Cardinals call up scrubs and they turn into average major leaguers sense, I mean that in a Mark Mulder has an ERA of 9.85 since April '06 sense.
  13. Chuck Garfien finds it outrageous that people would vote for Longoria. He also compared Dye to Longoria by using their offensive counting stats, and nothing else. No mention of the fact that Longoria is a stud defender at 3B, and Dye is a bad RF. Just because Chuck Garfien doesn't know who Longoria is, doesn't mean nobody else does. The 2 of them also were utterly ignorant to the fact that people could vote more than once.
  14. Bill Melton just insinuated that the voting was fixed by MLB.
  15. The bar I was at last night had deep fried oreos on the menu. I didn't want to embarrass myself too much in front of the girl I was with, so I refrained. I'll probably regret it the rest of my life.
  16. This is terrible news for the Cubs.
  17. I keep reading about going to the local bar for games I can't see at home. Am I missing something? Why does a bar get games that I don't? No. There will be no local bars showing it either. People outside the Chicago area are screwed when it comes to Saturday baseball and the Cubs. Really? I've watched FOX games that would otherwise be blacked out at bars before. Yeah, I can't believe that's true. My bars carry out of market games.
  18. why sir? Because even if Burnett was great for them, the downgrade to Escobar from Hardy would wipe away pretty much all of those gains. If Burnett continues to struggle, the Brewers easily make themselves worse. Plus Burnett would stick them with that contract in all likelihood, meaning there's zero chance of Sabathia or Sheets staying there if there was any before. With Milwaukee's defense Burnett would continue to pitch much worse than his FIP. Watching Escobar hit 160 at the big league level would be fun too.
  19. The tanning booth? The early bird special at Denny's. (cause he's old...and like's Denny's?)
  20. This is the right move. No sense forcing a move with Marquis before we have to. Hope he throws well next game or 2, and dump the contract on somebody else. We have no problem with depth, so Marquis is completely unnecessary, but as has been stated, he's not really actively hurting us by staying in the rotation. Not nearly enough to eat 9M in next year's salary at this point.
  21. The only pitchers he had left was Harang, Volquez, and Cueto. I don't blame him for using Harang, but the problem I have with it is pitching him 3 days later. Should have called somebody up and skipped his start. I thought he didn't even need to call somebody up, I thought they had an offday sprinkled in there(and maybe a recent callup), where he could've just moved everybody up and kept everyone on normal rest. That's all from the top of my head though.
  22. Harang threw 63 pitches on 2 days rest in an extra inning game. He was brought back after that relief performance on 3 days rest, only to get shelled, knocked out in the 4th after 73 pitches. He's been terrible ever since.
  23. I hated on Fontenot for the majority of the past 2 seasons. He's far exceeded my expectations.
