    Dunno. Looking at google maps, it's 2 miles east of where 55 and 294 meet, and is north of Burbank, if that helps. Isn't it the brand new futbol field for the Fire? When he first mentioned the concert I was thinking that new place they put up when Daley razed Meigs Field. A car may be necessary for going out there, although I'd still probably take cabs for DUI prevention purposes. They should have put the Stadium somewhere other than Bridgeview. It was probably the cheapest place for them to build. I bet Bridgeview gave them a lot of incentive to build the park there. The move probably benefits the white suburban folk that like soccer but probably doesn't help the blue collar minorities that enjoy soccer who can't afford to drive to the game park and game tickets. Bridgeview has its fair share of blue collar minorities. It's not like it's Orland Park.

    I believe it is because there is an age limit of 23 which means many stars can't take part. Which is why it isn't important to us. I am not sure what the restriction is, but it looks like MLB players can't participate. I wasn't aware of the age restriction on soccer, but there's certainly not one on baseball. MLB players don't participate because the games are during the season. Though, I think it would be pretty cool if the Nats or Mariners sent a few guys, I can obviously see why they won't.

    Casey Blake would be perfect for an ~August 28th pickup. In the organization for the playoff roster when we go down to 11 pitchers, and you can survive a couple games without Cedeno or the 12th pitcher until September callups.

    I voted ok because of how profitable baseball has become during his tenure. The Expos and stadium hostage negotiations are 2 of the more shameful things that have ever happened in baseball's history though.

    Yeah, Chris Gomez is done as a SS. And of course he pretty much has the same numbers as Cedeno.

    Miguel Tejada I could see that. I had fun rooting for him last night, he looked really pumped to be there, and really wanted to beat those bastards from the AL.

    Who had radio rights? Was he in the booth broadcasting for ESPN Radio? I know he does the World Series games on the radio. but I guess that really isn't an excuse not to be there, because he could have missed the start of the game to be in such a hyped ceremony. Dave Campbel was the color guy for ESPN radio.

    No, I didn't. I don't remember where the discussion took place, but I said before the game started (days before) that it's ridiculous that neither Peavy or Santana are on the all star roster. I only used Aaron Cook as an example. I can make a long list of pitchers who I would have excused from the all star roster to put Santana and Peavy in their place. Since Selig turned the game into a HFA game, to me it would be all about winning. And if my main objective is to win, Johan Santana and Jake Peavy are pitching for me. Period. For the record, I had no idea how Cook pitched until someone pointed it out in this thread. I paid so little attention to the game that you could arguably say I didn't watch it at all. I only singled out Cook because it seemed crazy to complain about him being there with the way he pitched. I like the idea of the manager taking one of his guys so he can extend him should there be extra innings. As long as it's not absurd for the guy to be there.(Cook has been very good this year) If you didn't pay attention to the game, then you really missed out. Even McCarver, Buck, and FOX couldn't screw this one up. This was an epic, just a great, great baseball game.

    I prefer to make my argument without the use of hindsight. You have 2 all star roster spots left, you have these three to pick from (the game has not started yet, so you have no idea how any of them performed beforehand): Jake Peavy Johan Santana Aaron Cook Which 2 do you take? Because Hurdle will be sitting at home watching the World Series, obviously it was an easy choice to take his own guy. He doesn't care who wins because it doesn't affect him one bit. You did make a hindsight argument. You said Hurdle lost the game by taking Aaron Cook instead of Santana or Peavy, which given Cook's performance(yes it was MVP worthy for the Uggla inning alone) is madness. The other thing Hurdle has by taking his own guy was he was able to stretch him out and pitch him 3 innings, which he'd be unlikely to do with Santana or Peavy because they weren't his guys and he'd likely piss off the Mets or Padres manager by extending a pitcher who wasn't his own.

    You're going to blame Clint Hurdle for taking Aaron Cook? He was a lock for MVP if the NL won.

    I bet about 95% of baseball fans don't realize how HFA was determined before the All star game decided it.

    Yeah, let's have 100 all stars a year!! Absurd. They had pitchers go 15 innings. There are regular season games where managers are on their last pitcher in the 15th. There was no problem. The all star game probably won't go 15 for another 20 years, no reason to make changes based on the worst case scenario.

    Impossible the geniuses in the booth kept telling me it would be a tie if it went past the 15th. They probably don't understand how the DH rule works so they'd be utterly confused by the Wright thing.

    Geo had to come out cause there are 3 catchers on the team. Kosuke came out cause he's the worst OF on the team. Albert might play the whole game. He will, otherwise the NL would lose the DH. Nah, they could just replace him with another hitter. The only way you lose the DH is by moving Pujols to the field. Personally, I'd keep Pujols in the whole game as well.
