  1. Soto destroyed pitchers for his first 7 months in the majors so it makes sense to equate him to rookies struggling early on
  2. I thought it was May 10 or 11 May 11th is first game any of the bleachers are schedule to be open. Cubs have yet to release any tickets for them, so I'll assume they'll be rolling with just season tickets for Nights & Weekends at least. I'm curious if they'll do a general onsale for weekday games though. ETA: Nevermind, May 14th Thursday day game is now on sale. ETAA: Hmmmm Sunday, May 31st is available as well, so I wonder if there are a handful available and the others are already sold out, or if they're actually ahead of schedule?
  3. which is a tad weird you guys seem to think he's koyie hill or something. His OPS vs. righties the last 2 years was lower than Koyie's career #s.
  4. Yes, but Didi Gregorius is the reincarnated humanoid fleshbot of Derek Jeter, so it would make sense that he is amazing at utilizing everything this world can throw at him, especially outside pitches. His OPS is 499. I wouldn't use the word amazing anywhere near anything he does at the plate. Really?
  5. Marshall Faulk???????
  6. Woj says Donovan to Thunder is done.
  7. Can we force him out over this? Might need to offer him a Brazil nut first. dying
  8. Would certainly be interesting to see a Super in a stadium that holds 1500. Wiki tells me they drew 5,214 in 2009. They'll put a [expletive] of temp seats in.
  9. Fewest losses in D1. I would think barring a collapse, we should at least host a regional
  10. Can we force him out over this?
  11. hahahaha this is amazing they should get some custom fog machines and [expletive] in the new clubhouse http://i.imgur.com/W4n0lTA.gif
  12. Can you explain to me what you mean by all of this? It's 3 years running that people have assumed we're drafting a starting pitcher to be a fixture in our rotation 1.5 years later.
  13. Because Shark was always a better fit for the south side. Just 'cause he was a dirty Indiana boy? That's not fair. He grew up a Sox fan. That's some quality meatballin.
  14. Maybe this is swaying my perception, as he was pretty cool and a regular guy when I've met him.
  15. I don't get why anyone hates Samardzija. It's odd.
  16. This year's 7th pick should slot in nicely with 2013's 2nd pick(hopefully Appel gets there.) and 2014's #4 pick for a stud rotation.
  17. i see we're all drunk here, so i'll just drop it. yeah all stars and hits. So you're saying it's sorta like he is praising Juan Pierre, but since we like the player it is all thumbs up? I stopped being bothered by things like that a long time ago. It's like getting mad at an article praising Greg Maddux talking about all his Cy Youngs and his 300 wins. Of course they're goign to mention that. It's a major accomplishment either way. As long as it isn't the foundation of the argument, it isn't a problem. I think I get more annoyed at the faux-outrage over wins, bunts and BA than I do with people who still use them as the most important factor.
  18. We shouldn't have a 1st round pick next year.
  19. He's who I think of when I read scouts say "he looks like a ballplayer". Kris Bryant
  20. that's a convenient assumption, but FG favors us (53% - 44%) and BP has the two teams as equals (56%) fwiw, right now BP has us at 61.96% to make the playoffs angels are 56.3% Must not have been updated yet as of sneaky's post, because I recalled seeing the same.
  21. This guy named GTZasker or something like that was a semi regular poster at Cubs.com for a couple months. Then one day there's a post by someone claiming to be his brother who posted to tell everyone that the real guy had died in a boating accident over the weekend. There actually had been a boating accident resulting in a fatality the previous weekend. A bunch of people cried bs and started poking holes in the "brother's" story. I have to admit, I told people to shut up because why would anyone fake their own death on a message board? About 3 weeks later, the guy returns from the dead saying he did the whole thing as a psych experiment for a class he was taking at ... maybe Northwestern or DePaul. This resulted in a long debate over whether that was the real reason he did it. A lot of people were genuinely upset over all of this. It all seems really silly now. There was a "girl"(quotes used because I don't know if it was ever verified she was anyone but the same guy) named JamesPeere or JamiesPeere or something, who had posted there for awhile, who'd supposedly met him in real life(I believe this was setup beforehand to sell the story) and confirmed the death to silence the doubters. I mostly just lurked, but it was pretty weird.
  22. Especially if it moved Kris Bryant to CF
  23. The Pujols one just confused me because he was 2.9 last year, but I guess his April was pretty sick.
  24. they have roughly $95M committed next year to... Pujols - 1.8 WAR for the last calendar year CJ Wilson - 1.2 Jered Weaver - 1.9 Hamilton - a member of the Texas Rangers organization so they're set up pretty well to squander the prime years of a generational/all-time great player; if that's not worthy of derision, then i guess not really anything is Where are those WAR numbers coming from?
