  1. If Towers takes that, Hendry has some nasty pictures of him. That platter wouldn't land Peavy alone, let alone Greene. I'm thinking Pie/Theriot/Marshall/Veal/Adkins might get them to discuss that deal. I'm thinking he's operating under the assumption that Greene has negative trade value. Not outrageous depending on just how much money Moores needs to recoup. Honestly, I think Pie/Castillo/Marshall would be a decent start. This is exactly what I'm thinking. Whatever he's owed in 2009, it's probably a hell of a lot more than San Diego wants to pay for him. He's not going to get cheaper. They aren't going to contend, so they'd be probably wanting to tack him on to any Peavy deal, much like Willis was dealt with Cabrera. Greene signed a 2Y/11M deal prior to last season. ESPN has his salary at 4.5M for last year. Bonuses may affect it in some way, but ~6M seems like a safe guess. Khalil was awful last year and will be a free agent after this season. You nailed it, he's a worse version of Dontrelle to Peavy's Cabrera.
  2. As a Cub, 1 start allowing 0 runs. 0 starts knocked out in the 2nd inning or earlier.
  3. I like Steve Lavin for both his UCLA program destruction and his familiar voice on Big 10 games. I don't want to have to hate him.
  4. Probably cause every team they've played since is better than Miss St.

  6. Dammit Rich. I also want Kroeger rostered.
  7. This will come in handy next time I'm in the shower.
  8. How is that measured? What's included in that? I'm not familiar with that statistic. It uses WPA(win probability added, the basis for those graphs you'll see linked around here a lot.) tOPS+ is his OPS+ relative to his career OPS+ WPA as a stat definitely has its flaws, but as a means of identifying leveraged situations, it's pretty good.
  9. BR leverage stats. High: 103 tOPS+ Medium: 102 tOPS+ Low: 96 tOPS+
  10. Who hits well in the clutch season after season.
  11. He stole about 3x as many bases as he averaged over those many PAs. He also hit about 1/3 the amount of HRs. What he meant was that without the padres terrible arms behind the plate he wouldn't have stolen as many bases and people wouldn't be talking about Holliday being such a "speed threat". As previously mentioned he stole 19 bases vs. other teams. Holliday's steals are pretty far down the list of why I want him.
  12. So is the consensus that Longoria shoulda let that ball go last night?
  13. Question: Is beating Ole Miss 24-20 at home different than losing to Ole Miss at home 31-30 because of a missed XPT? If you answer anything other than "No" you're [expletive]. Again, Bama isn't better than Florida because Florida missed that extra point. You know what when Alabama whups Florida in Atlanta in about month and change, you will see why I like Alabama's better then Florida. You can write this down now......If Alabama and Florida meet in the SECCG Alabama will beat Florida by 3 TD's. The only team in the SEC East I do not want to face in the SECCG is Georgia, and next week GA is going to show why Florida is abit overrated. Ok, this is just looney.
  14. Question: Is beating Ole Miss 24-20 at home different than losing to Ole Miss at home 31-30 because of a missed XPT? If you answer anything other than "No" you're [expletive]. Again, Bama isn't better than Florida because Florida missed that extra point. Is winning different than losing? In those cases? The answer is no. In the standings yes, in actually telling us how good teams are? absolutely not. again, i dont see how this so hard for you guys to understand. it's not a difficult concept. it's a concept that you guys *gasp* believe in baseball but dont believe in football because the season is shorter magnifying individual wins and losses (which is incredibly stupid).
  15. yeah i decided to go to UT because they were a consensus top 5 team at the beginning of the season. And you didn't force Tim Tebow to wink at you that one time.
  16. The SEC isn't really too good.
  17. He stole about 3x as many bases as he averaged over those many PAs. He also hit about 1/3 the amount of HRs.
  18. Sutcliffe is just about my least favorite baseball TV personality. Mark Grace is just about my least favorite personality.
  19. Oh come on, we should be talking about the Arizona program crashing and burning. It's fun for the whole family. Yeah, but then you get mad when I tell you that we were the ones that sent Lute to the crazy house.
  20. And as usual, my attempt at a road map to win the damn Big 10/ACC Challenge. 12/1: Wisconsin over VA Tech 12/2: Purdue over Duke, Illinois over Clemson, Ohio St. over Miami, Minnesota over Virginia 12/3: MSU over UNC IU/Wake(12/3), UM/Maryland(12/3), FSU/NU(12/3), & Iowa/BC(12/2) should be laughers. Penn St. could steal one at GA Tech.(12/3) As always no margin for error, and we'll need an upset or 2 to pull it off. If we don't enter 12/3 up 5-1, we're probably toast.
  21. At the risk of rising the ire of the SEC fans, let's keep the topic on the Big 10. Upon determining I can't have a 7 way tie for last place, this is what I've got for my preseason predictions. MSU Wisconsin Purdue Ohio St. Illinois Penn St. Minnesota Northwestern Iowa Michigan Indiana 4 tourney teams, 3 NITs.
  22. Well considering Minnesota split the season series with Ohio State with each team winning by double digits when at home and that was during the first year under a new head coach I don't see how anyone could say Ohio State and Minnesota won't be close this year. Plus your numbers are off. Minnesota was indeed bad first top 100 (2-10) but all but one of those games were against top 50. They were 2-9 first top 50. Ohio State? 2-10 first top 50. http://www.kenpom.com/rpi.php I use Pomeroy rankings. Minnesota was 2-12 vs. top 50. Ohio St. was 7-10 vs. top 50. For those who are interested(probably just me, but I'm off work tomorrow so suck it beyotch.) ...Top 50..(Top 100) Wisky: 10-5(13-5) Purdue: 8-7(10-8) IU: 7-6(12-7) MSU: 10-7(15-7) Ohio St.: 7-10(11-11) Minnesota: 2-12(3-14) PSU: 5-8(5-13) Iowa: 2-10(2-14) UM: 2-13(2-17) Illinois: 3-13(6-15) NU: 0-12(0-17)
  23. That's my problem, I don't think Hendry has learned to not give out poor contracts to relievers. I think this might just be posturing. What if it's K-rod? Then it would probably be an even poorer contract.
