  1. Why the hell would the Brewers want Ubaldo Jimenez pitching for them? He's not an upgrade over the crap they are already throwing out there. Can’t tell if you’re joking about not getting the joke or don’t actually get the joke. It’s sarcasm inception! I’m trapped! How many levels away from reality am I?!?!? No, I just missed that you were joking. Jimenez was a good pitcher at one time, and I didn't know if you just hadn't paid any attention to him the last few years or not.
  2. I'm with you on Burnes. He's a solid bet to be a legit MOR arm in the bigs. He's not an ace, but he could be good enough to be in a playoff rotation at some point.

  4. From the same link CR just provided. I keep forgetting about this guy. Thanks for posting that.
  5. Chances that he falls to 24? My kind of potential injury faller so far by avoiding surgery. 0%?
  6. Adrian Morejon at 61 is way more of a coulda been a Cubs prospect, since he was linked to them initially. As was Vlad Jr. :banghead: Yeah, I have no idea if the Cubs liked Pearson enough to where he was even considered by them, but he could've been had at 27 without a bidding war... I don't believe this is true. Vlad Jr. was linked the Blue Jays from the start.
  7. He actually wasn't granted his FA until about a month after the new period began, despite the fact that guys who defected AFTER him were granted FA status in the signing period before. Cubs were already in the penalty box by then and couldn't sign him. There were plenty of rumblings at the time that MLB did that on purpose, as the Cubs were linked heavily to Morejon and were already known to be blowing through the spending limits.
  8. That's freaking terrible for the kid.
  9. The Cubs are linked to Dominican CF Jose Lopez. 5’10”, athletic, plus speed, strong arm and an above average tools with an unorthodox swing. He’s expected to get a bonus “north of $1 million.” What specifically is unorthodox about it, or did they even mention it? A 7 figure deal with this guy really takes a bit out of the available money.
  10. Yeah, there was finally room for him in there. Molnar isn't back yet, is he? Not yet. He had a setback and is expected to miss the first month of the season. He's still expected to go into the weekend rotation when he returns. He could be a really good one. Such a strong season as a frosh.
  11. I wouldn't make that leap. Pitchers don't generally get as much as the hitters do in IFA. Actually, I'm struggling to think of the last pitcher to get $2 million in IFA. Did Espinoza get that from Boston, or did either of those 2 Rays pitchers get it when they went over their spending budget? But we see $2-3 million dollar position players every year. I wouldn't be shocked to see that he signed for $1 million. Ah, when I skimmed thru, I didn't notice he had just also posted the 5 best hitters. That definitely changes things, as his comment wasn't necessarily meant for the pitchers. I agree that they don't typically get as much. And I'd amend my initial thinking on Gallardo. I'd still bet Rodriguez gets well over that though. Every team has at least 4.75 mill now to spend. I'd guess the players see their bonuses go up a bit anyway, just because of that. Makes sense. I think you may be right on Rodriguez as well. Dude looks legit.

  13. Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have been so lazy and actually looked through this thread first. No worries. Wasn't trying to be a jerk by linking my post - BA has contacted Tim before about posting too much premium content. Didn't come off jerky at all. And I remember reading something about that. Didn't Law also contact somebody here, or was that a different message board?
  14. I can't find anything on this kid. Badler mentioned him back in November: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1739#p227788 Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have been so lazy and actually looked through this thread first.
  15. He sure did. Said he was the standout there today despite not having the best FB velocity, with the best combination of fastball, offspeed stuff and control. He's 6'1", 187 lbs. Gallardo is the second 7/2/18 IFA linked to the Cubs. The first is 16-year old Dominican SS Rafael Morel. Of the other two guys in my post above with Kiley McDaniel tweets, Starlyn Castillo is linked to the Phillies and Badler didn't link Abraham Calzadilla to any teams. The hardthrowing Cubans will pitch tomorrow. I can't find anything on this kid.

  17. I knew about it, but I'm a big UCLA fan. Really disappointed because it sounded like he was going to run away with a spot in the weekend rotation. Yeah, there was finally room for him in there. Molnar isn't back yet, is he?
  18. Am I the only one that missed that Justin Hooper blew out his arm in fall ball? I was really excited to see him this year after his big Cape performance last summer.
  19. I got my BA Prospect Handbook yesterday. Here is 11-31: 11. DJ Wilson, OF 12. David Bote, 2B/3B 13. Bryan Hudson, LHP 14. Keegan Thompson, RHP 15. Dillon Maples, RHP 16. Cory Abbott, RHP 17. Trevor Clifton, RHP 18. Justin Steele, LHP 19. Duane Underwood, RHP 20. Mark Zagunis, OF 21. Dakota Mekkes, RHP 22. Miguel Amaya, C 23. Javier Assad, RHP 24. Charcer Burks, OF 25. Jason Vosler, 3B 26. Michael Rucker, RHP 27. Erich Uelman, RHP 28. Alec Mills, RHP 29. Jonathan Sierra, OF 30. Jake Stinnett, RHP 31. Manuel Rondon, LHP Most surprising omission for me is Jeremiah Estrada. BA has REALLY gone downhill.
  20. Yeah, it's certainly not surprising that we're ranked so low. After the trades made to add quality at the big league level, the remaining talent is at the lower levels.
  21. That's because Pearson actually backed up the pre-draft scouting reports in his short pro debut. Little wasn't anywhere close to his. Big drop in velocity combined with poor command of everything left a really sour taste in everyone's mouths. Here's hoping it was just fatigue from the full college season and then a layoff.
  22. I saw that. Very happy. Kiley really did a great job with his lists and databases before joining the Braves.
  23. Yeah, really hoping he pulls a Thomas Hatch and gets back the pre-draft velocity. Hatch was 93-95 in the reports predraft, but was 88-91 at the end of the college season and in instructs. Similarly, Little was 92-95 predraft, but 88-91 during his first taste of pro ball.
