  1. Travis Swaggerty seems to have hit a wall recently. Has he seen Bohm play in the field? I just don't see any way he stays there. I love that bat though. Still could be a top 5 pick based on just the bat. Previous pop-up mention, Gunnar Hoglund, is still doing things. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] You read that correctly. He has 4 no-hitters in 7 starts this year; 2 of which were perfect games.

  3. That is indeed bold. I would be pleased with middle of the pack.
  4. Clifton going for Tennessee. Roth and Tseng going for Iowa. No word on SB yet.
  5. If there were any other legit options at Iowa, he would be in the pen already.
  6. He has stood out offensively whenever I'd watch Florida games last year. I have to imagine he has boosted his stock to the point where he's being considered a 2nd rounder at least. If he keeps mowing through SEC pitching the rest of the year, he may end up a 1st rounder.
  7. I haven't heard as much about Abbot yet in the minor league recaps. It may just be a matter of him being a bit behind the others. If he's still throwing 89-91 in a few weeks, I'm gonna be disappointed. I am higher on Abbott than I probably should be, but something in my gut is telling me that he will amount to something. Meanwhile, Jonathan Sierra and Nelson Velazquez have returned to where we expected them to be, Mesa/Eugene. Super impressive if Morel can make South Bend - he'd be skipping the AZL and NWL in his stateside debut and age 19 season. Wow. That would indeed be impressive. I can't remember the exact injury he had that kept him out of 2017, but I do seem to recall that it was a freak accident of some sort. I may have to google that in a bit.
  8. A guy that hasn't been discussed much, but probably should be, is Jonathan India from UF. I will be following him more closely now that SEC play is in full swing. 24 games into the season and he's rocking a .429/.535/.909 slash line with 9 HRs and 17 BBs to 15 Ks. He hasn't been playing SS this year, but his D at 3B has received some really solid reviews. I think I read somewhere that many thought he was a 2B at the next level.
  9. Yes. I never meant to insinuate that I prefer Robinson to Rucker. I don't. It's just that I could see where the FO might, based on those things I pointed out. They are both clearly superior to the likes of Kyle Miller, IMO.
  10. Over Miller and Kellogg, absolutely. Robinson is actually kind of interesting though. Better frame than Rucker to handle a starter's workload. Much better breaking ball. Induces a lot of groundballs, and more than Rucker. Maybe they want to groom Rucker in a swingman type role right now, as they perceive that to be his most valuable spot in the bigs (assuming he makes it). I could see it.
  11. Why the hell would the Brewers want Ubaldo Jimenez pitching for them? He's not an upgrade over the crap they are already throwing out there. Can’t tell if you’re joking about not getting the joke or don’t actually get the joke. It’s sarcasm inception! I’m trapped! How many levels away from reality am I?!?!? No, I just missed that you were joking. Jimenez was a good pitcher at one time, and I didn't know if you just hadn't paid any attention to him the last few years or not.
  12. I'm with you on Burnes. He's a solid bet to be a legit MOR arm in the bigs. He's not an ace, but he could be good enough to be in a playoff rotation at some point.

  14. From the same link CR just provided. I keep forgetting about this guy. Thanks for posting that.
  15. Chances that he falls to 24? My kind of potential injury faller so far by avoiding surgery. 0%?
  16. Adrian Morejon at 61 is way more of a coulda been a Cubs prospect, since he was linked to them initially. As was Vlad Jr. :banghead: Yeah, I have no idea if the Cubs liked Pearson enough to where he was even considered by them, but he could've been had at 27 without a bidding war... I don't believe this is true. Vlad Jr. was linked the Blue Jays from the start.
  17. He actually wasn't granted his FA until about a month after the new period began, despite the fact that guys who defected AFTER him were granted FA status in the signing period before. Cubs were already in the penalty box by then and couldn't sign him. There were plenty of rumblings at the time that MLB did that on purpose, as the Cubs were linked heavily to Morejon and were already known to be blowing through the spending limits.
  18. That's freaking terrible for the kid.
  19. The Cubs are linked to Dominican CF Jose Lopez. 5’10”, athletic, plus speed, strong arm and an above average tools with an unorthodox swing. He’s expected to get a bonus “north of $1 million.” What specifically is unorthodox about it, or did they even mention it? A 7 figure deal with this guy really takes a bit out of the available money.
  20. Yeah, there was finally room for him in there. Molnar isn't back yet, is he? Not yet. He had a setback and is expected to miss the first month of the season. He's still expected to go into the weekend rotation when he returns. He could be a really good one. Such a strong season as a frosh.
  21. I wouldn't make that leap. Pitchers don't generally get as much as the hitters do in IFA. Actually, I'm struggling to think of the last pitcher to get $2 million in IFA. Did Espinoza get that from Boston, or did either of those 2 Rays pitchers get it when they went over their spending budget? But we see $2-3 million dollar position players every year. I wouldn't be shocked to see that he signed for $1 million. Ah, when I skimmed thru, I didn't notice he had just also posted the 5 best hitters. That definitely changes things, as his comment wasn't necessarily meant for the pitchers. I agree that they don't typically get as much. And I'd amend my initial thinking on Gallardo. I'd still bet Rodriguez gets well over that though. Every team has at least 4.75 mill now to spend. I'd guess the players see their bonuses go up a bit anyway, just because of that. Makes sense. I think you may be right on Rodriguez as well. Dude looks legit.

  23. Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have been so lazy and actually looked through this thread first. No worries. Wasn't trying to be a jerk by linking my post - BA has contacted Tim before about posting too much premium content. Didn't come off jerky at all. And I remember reading something about that. Didn't Law also contact somebody here, or was that a different message board?
  24. I can't find anything on this kid. Badler mentioned him back in November: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1739#p227788 Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't have been so lazy and actually looked through this thread first.
