    It is relevant. It illustrates that as compared to another manager that DesMoinesCub knows a lot about, Tony doesn't let his players walk all over him. I wasn't arguing beside the point, I was using LaRussa's tactics as compared to Dusty's tactics as evidence to prove my point. I disagree, further, I would observe that Baker has no relevance whatsoever when observing a whining LaRussa. That is, unless he was whining about Baker (or Baker's Cubs), neither of which are the case here. We'll just have to agree to disagree here, because I just do not see the point in bringing Baker into this thread whatsoever.

    Clearly you weren't paying much attention to Tony's "If Steve really did that than my foot is going to be on his throat in about 2 minutes" comment. Kline didn't get into a game for a week and was left on the DL longer than expected. Then of course, he wasn't resigned as is obviously not happy about being in Balitimore. If you are insinuating that LaRussa's players don't respect him than you are just ignorant of the situation. Hopefully you aren't a Dusty fan saying that or I would be forced to bring up mulitple incidents from last year to illustrate Dusty's respect from his players. Again, I must reiterate that whatever Baker does, did, or says, is IRRELEVANT to his comment there. Baker is not the subject, nor the issue.

    You would think that a 40-year-old, 17-year veteran would be able to display a little better acumen than that. He has been pretty successful through his career. Maybe he is just having trouble accepting and 'dealing' with his declining skills.

    Perhaps his injury was worst than reported. You can't do much worse than breaking your clavicle in that particular area, unless you break your clavicle and then the broken ends impale your heart or something... My brother-in-law broke his clavicle, and man, he was down for a long time. He is not the same as before. It is really tough to throw after that.

    It's called arguing besides the point. It is a tactic used to deflect attention from the actual subject, to something that is irrelevant so you can feel like you are 'winning' the argument. The thread is about LaRussa (whom I happen to like, BTW), but his apologists try to divert it to Baker, and that is irrelevant. Baker's stupid moves & comments don't matter squat when discussing LaRussa's whining, but people brought up Baker to divert attention from LaRussa because LaRussa has no defence for being a whiny little baby. In any event, LaRussa is a good manager, and a decent guy. His whining does get on my nerves though.

    Who? Excactly! Hey Gus, speaking of the draft, I noticed that Darren Brooks didn't make it in. I hope the Bulls take a flyer on him. I am certain he will sign as undrafted FA with somebody. Word is that the Bulls are indeed very interested.... That would be cool 8) . I would go to see the Bulls just to cheer on Brooks. I can't believe he wasn't drafted, but I guess he'll have to keep on proving it on the court.

    So dalgreen, what do you think of 'Cy' Santos? This guy is unbelievable against the Cubbies. I just don't get it.

    Don't look now, but Pujols has tied Lee in rbi, and is right behind in HR's. :darn it: Pujols has been slowly creeping up in HR's and rbi. Fielding and BA is where Lee has continued to do his best work. It's difficult to comprehend, but he has actually extended his lead in BA. .392 on June 21 is just plain silly. :shock: but I'm lovin' it.

    Of course they will. They will have Cy Whomever pitching every game, and they will come up will all the clutch hits. Right now, the Cubs look like a slumping team again. I honestly could see them not picking up another win until after the White Sox series. :(

    Why weren't both a lefty and a righty warming up when Zambrano took the mound in the 7th? Just Ohman was ready, and then when he sucked, no one was ready. He had to wait until the game was essentially lost to make a change. I guess it would not have mattered since Wuertz was equally as bad, but it just makes me mad that nobody (righty) was ready.

    I think that you're right on-point. During the pre-game yesterday, Baker said that Cub hitters need to take some walks, or learn how (when) to take some walks (or something to that effect). I almost fell out of my seat on the el when I heard that!

    I agree with those sentiments. It really used to just make me sick watching Maddux pitch for the Braves when he really very easily could have been a Cub for life. Dumb management at the time. #-o

    It is difficult to fathom, but it happens every year. It seems almost every team they play has one guy who absolutely murders the Cubs, regardless of who is pitching, and yet struggles to meet the league average offencively against the rest of the league. I don't understand it either, but it does happen.

    I think that with this super hot start, he will this season. He's already a better 1st baseman, IMO.
