    no, please be wrong. soriano is a lot more valuable in center than right. who the hell cares? it's the same exact players. what does 'value at his position' mean in that case? do you just want the best sabr stats for purely aesthetic reasons? if Jock in center and Soriano in right is the best defense, that's the way it sould be. because if jones is traded is lessens the chance of jim acquiring a crappy hitting centerfielder (which there are plenty of) to play there. it's easier to find good production out of a corner outfield spot. if the outfield is guaranteed to be murton/jones/soriano this year, then i don't care. but for the future considerations i want soriano in center. I think your original reaction was a bit over the top if that was your thinking on the matter. and if all that is your problem, then just put him at second. plus, exactly 6 rightfielders had an OPS over 833 last year. the same exact number of centerfielders who had an OPS over 837 last year. i'd actually prefer soriano at 2nd, but i think derosa is there for the long haul. and was 2006 just a fluke down year for rf's? or is it more the norm?

    Do you think Hendry considers his offseason work (offensively, not pitching) done, and he won't go out of his way to get another significant bat? Or is he still not satisfied and is looking to get another SS or CF?

    you just blew my mind Izturis + Pie for Manny? Were you referring to my post? If so, and I have discussed this several times in other threads, a Manny trade is contingent on the Sox signing Drew and wanting added payroll flexibility. If so, assuming Manny's salary is a big chip in the baragain. Add a defensive minded starting SS (Epstein loves these) and you may have a deal. i might have ripped off the deal from you. but the thought just now occured to me that pie is now expendable (assuming soriano plays center), and we can get manny for cheap with just 2 players.

    That's never been the problem. The problem is that he went about the wrong way improving the team, ie last year's ridiculous bullpen overhaul.

    kctigers pointed this out last time it was brought up, but of the 34 walk increase, 13 of those were intentional. well crap. it's still a positive trend upwards, right? and we got the dreamy hitting coach who likes plate discipline...

    I am telling you they are crazy in Columbus. Crazy as an outhouse rat. If they win, they will destroy Columbus. If they lose, they will destroy Columbus worse. They are not fans, they are anti-fans. In Tressell's first year they played Michigan at home. A bunch of boozed up idiots brought buckeyes (the poisionous nut) to the football game and would throw them at anyone wearing yellow. They don't root for OSU to win, they root for the other team to lose. The worst fans in college sports. you sound like a white sox fan complaining about cubs fans

    So the excitement is based on hope? As a former boss used to tell me, "Hope ain't a strategy!" Well, I'm not that excited about him. I'd welcome him to the team if the price is right, I'm just stating why he would/could be a good acquisition for the Cubs. But I don't think he's that great or anything.

    You guys have no idea how big the hype is for OSU Michigan unless you live in Ohio/Michigan right now. This is the biggest buildup for any sporting event ever in this state. This is bigger than all superbowls combined. I don't even care that much about OSU or college football, but I can't helped but be totally pumped for the game tomorrow. It's contagious. I'm going to a sports bar to soak in the atmosphere tomorrow. It's going to be splendid. And go Buckeyes!!

    He had a very good year in 2004, and a decent year this year. Maybe a switch to a weaker league would bring better numbers.
