  1. i find hitting homeruns helps the team a lot. does that count?
  2. rushmore pee-wee's big adventure the princess bride
  3. it's only 7 games, of course the cards have a chance to win it all.
  4. How about something like: What if the Cardinals were in the AL Central? Twins - 96-66 Tigers - 95-67 White Sox - 90-72 Cardinals - 83-78
  5. That'd be excellent if Murton puts up .315 .388 .515
  6. yay it only took 4 seasons
  7. What the hell is wrong with you? I would have to guess that, Mercker is one of the biggest jokes in baseball. What?! Well you don't see that as a problem? I do. If he called in the middle of warming up or something, then yeah, sure. But if he's already in the clubhouse, who cares? It should have been a non-story from the beginning. But Stone's a little too sensitive for that.
  8. i would like pat burrel. can he play right field, out of curiosity?
  9. Mercker's main complaint was about a dumbass Chip Caray comment, if I remember right.
  10. Be prepared for the Anti-Stone people. I also enjoy Stone but we are the minority on this board. I like him as an announcer, but hate him as a decision maker. I lost a lot of respect for him with the way he went out. Why because morons like Kent Mercker and Dusty Baker ran him out of town I would be bitter too if the Cubs choose a loogy over one of the best colorman in the buisness. I'd be upset if the Cubs EVER chose a broadcaster over a player.
  11. The Cubs got away from the "wait for the 3 run homer" approach last season. They tried to make things happen on the basepaths, and do the little things. It didn't work out well.
  12. ..wasn't able to listen; what do you like about that statement? Players play, pitchers pitch, hitters hit, coaches coach, posters post, etc.....sounds meaningless to me...what was the context? I think he meant that ideally he'd just be in the shadows and the players would produce on their own. Meaning he'd like as much of a "hands off" approach as possible.
  13. I think it's a given that any available manager will have that philosophy and overuse the sac bunt and try to "make things happen". I'm not that worried about it, it's not like Girardi or Bochy would be different. I'm excited because Lou actually acknowledged that the lack of walks is something that needs to be worked on. I only wish someone asked him about pitcher abuse.
  14. A drunken Rick Sutcliffe, hopefully
  15. Is there any point in putting Aramis's name in the article? If he's re-signed can he even be traded until a certain date? And if he re-signs, will he have a no-trade clause put in, and is he willing to waive it to play for NY?
  16. too bad you can't challenge roughing the passer penalties  Is that a reference to yesterday? I didn't see the game. yes, but i won't hijack the bears thread
  17. too bad you can't challenge roughing the passer penalties
  18. if he wins a world series he can play all the vets he wants
