    So...if this gets postponed, then we're guaranteed not to lose today and we delay by one day the next time I have to suffer through James Russell starting, hypothetically giving QUade another day to pull his head out of his ass and figure out that Russell starting is a disaster. So yeah - I'm rooting for a postponement.

    Something to do with past injury. I don't know how that works in relation to waiver claims - but apparently his contract is property of the Cubs now. I always thought he had potential to be a decent middle relief option making the minimum. I guess we'll see.

    Oh come on. I'm serious. This isnt the first time he's struggled with higher pitch counts. Why do you think he's been on low pitch counts in the minors? They were trying to build him up slow. But if he cant handle the high pitch counts (and i'm not advocating pulling the plug on him starting now), then I think its not the worst thing if he were to head back to the pen.

    Marshall didn't pitch on Sunday so he's only thrown 6 pitches in the last 2 days. He'll be available for a while if the Cubs need. From what Quade said about yesterday's game, he was planning to pitch Mateo/Grabow/Marshall today anyway. No reason spellcheck can't pitch in the 7th. Well outside of him not being very good.

    I'd love him as a starter but if he's not a guy who can regularly make 100 pitch outings lets cut our losses and put him back in the pen.

    I mean - what's it hurt. Righty bat that can still hit lefties well, play CF passably, good clubhouse guy..and he's not guaranteed anything. We're gonna need a 5th OF for the bench. I dont know for sure it's gonna be Reedo, but i'm glad he's got a chance to be with the club. Bench: Hill/Castillo Baker Barney/other SS NRI Fukudome Reed/F. Perez Thats how i'm reading it right now, anyways.

    Considering he has options, i think he's more likely ticketed for AAA, and Koyie Hill will still be the big league backup.

    How can you forget the mistakes of trading away future studs like Sean Gallagher, Eric Patterson and Jose Ceda? haha Who was flipping out over Patterson? Where was the outcry over trading Gallagher to get Rich [expletive] Harden? Who was gnashing their teeth over Jose Ceda being a "future stud?" The criticism of that one was over trading ANYONE to get a really unremarkable at best closer. The general attitude towards Ceda is that he was cheap and under the Cubs' control for a while and could be effective if he was able to keep his weight under control. So, in other words...what the [expletive] are you two giggling about? You do get why people would prefer giving up Lee or Archer as opposed to both, right? exactly. I was never upset about trading any of those guys. I was more upset about us trading for/handing the closer's role to Gregg than whoever the heck we gave up.
