  1. I don't get the cynicism regarding Colvin. Maybe he's a future starter and maybe he isn't, but let's enjoy the hysteria while it lasts. It's nice to finally have some promising young position players.
  2. Meh, I don't know how much we'd get back since Lee is a FA after the season. If he plays well this season I'd like to see a 2 year extension. Lee has been a great Cub.
  3. Season over. No team that loses on opening day has ever won anything. Ever.
  4. Relax, 161 more to go. I'm hoping that's a good thing.
  5. Game 1 and this whole board is already miserable.
  6. Blame the Trib more than Hendry. They're the ones who authorized the last hurrah spending spree to drive up the price of the team. Soriano was the shiny toy in the winter of 2006 and they weren't going to leave without him.
  7. Well, Hendry got one thing right last off-season.
  8. I've kinda wondered what will happen if he's absolutely terrible. Will the Cubs keep running him out there? Especially if a guy like Colvin is tearing up AAA or playing well in a back-up role.
  9. Whatever, just as long as he isn't playing 3B. If he sucks it isn't hard to find backup 1B.
  10. Just shut it, Milton. You should be focused on saving your career, not the Cubs. If he bombs with Seattle it's probably the end for him. No one wants a malcontent who can't play.
  11. The Lilly injury thing is overblown. It's unrealistic to expect all 5 starters to stay healthy the whole season. If he comes back 100 percent our rotation should be fine.
  12. the problem is it probably won't stop when the regular season starts Disagree. Lou knows his personnel pretty well. He's never had non base stealers attempt a lot of them. This seems like usual Spring Training rhetoric.
  13. I don't think Milton's a bad guy, he just seems to enjoy being miserable.
  14. I hope it's true, if only because it'll dissapoint annoying east coast fans.
  15. Creepy.
  16. No chance of him making the team unless there is an injury. Our bench looks to be Nady, Fuld, Baker, Tracy, Hill, and Blanco. Not too shabby. Blanco, Hill, and Fuld are all strong defenders and Nady and Baker can hit enough to handle a starting role when a guy goes down.
  17. Theriot is perfectly fine. He's an average SS making average money. $3.4 million isn't out of line at all for a guy with his production over the last few years. When Castro is ready to go, Theriot will be moved to 2B or traded. But instead of accepting that I guess we can all be miserable and bash the guy because we don't like his facial hair or T-shirts and complain about his grittiness.
