  1. Because Valbuena and LaHair do not deserve to play, especially against a left handed starting pitcher.
  2. You are FAST. So what the hell does that mean? It means he is assuming Dempster gets dealt and that there is no warm, fuzzy, remember the good times, sad to see you go vibe going on. I think everyone, including Ryan, is ready for him to gtfo at this point. According to B&B on the Score, the new front office is sick of Ryan Dempster not to mention mad at him about the Atlanta deal. It sounded like his divorce isn't the only thing that was not public knowledge. Terry Boers said something to the effect, they just want him out of there and may have to settle for something far less than they hoped. Who knows what is really true, but it is interesting that Sveum made the comment that he doubts Dempster is with the team for tomorrow's game.
  3. I don't understand why Russell wasn't warming up for a left handed pinch hitter. Is Sveum waiting until Camp gives up a few runs to get someone up? The failure to add on in the first inning and the dumb hit and runs are proving costly. Edit: I guess it didn't matter since Camp got the job done.
  4. Poor Rizzo...victim of two outstanding defensive plays this weekend.
  5. At this point, what's the difference between giving Jackson a shot and watching LaHair fail miserably. At least Jackson would provide better defense and speed when he does reach base. Also, I've seen enough of Clevenger as well. Send him down and bring up Castillo to platoon with Soto. Since he came back from the DL, he is hitting under .200 with an OBP just above .200 with virtually no extra base hit power.
  6. Ball bounced around in the left field corner and Holliday probably thought Soriano would be content with a double. It amazes me that teams in contention that need a bat, are not more serious about Soriano since the Cubs seem to be willing to pay most of the remainder of his salary. What purpose does LaHair serve? He has been horrible offensively and his defense is certainly doesn't make up for the lack of offense.
  7. Baez now 2-2 with sac fly with 2 rbi. He just singled up the middle with runners on 1st and 3rd. Nice baserunning also to take 2nd on the throw to 3rd. He has handled the two or three chances in the field flawlessly.
  8. Baez with sac fly to right field. Scouts are focusing on pitcher from Cedar Rapids. The kid is throwing in mid 90s.
  9. After rain delay they are about to get started in Peoria. Oneri Flieta is here with phone to his ear and a few scouts talking to him.
  10. Sounds like he took off running like Rizzo and LaHair have done recently but instead of delivering the pitch, Correia stepped off and threw to the shortstop creating a rundown. But I didn't see it, just going by the scoring "S Clevenger caught stealing second, pitcher to shortstop to first to second"
  11. Hey Bukie - Bottom of the 6th for the Cubs - 4 batters (including two hits), 5 pitches and the inning is over. Swing early, swing often is back. I just find it funny how the same team can take such different approaches in back to back innings. Not trying to start an argument.
  12. What an odd thing to say just after Soriano homers on the 7th pitch of his AB. I only have access to game day and noticed both pitchers had low pitch counts so it was posted before I knew Soriano came to bat. And since then, Baker had a 5-pitch single and Soto a 6-pitch walk. So they are making him work after a 6 pitch first inning and 5 pitch fourth inning. Again Buehrle had 37 pitches through 4 innings. Maholm only has 60 pitches through 5. That is pretty low.
  13. What an odd thing to say just after Soriano homers on the 7th pitch of his AB. I only have access to game day and noticed both pitchers had low pitch counts so it was posted before I knew Soriano came to bat. For reference - Buehrle had 37 pitches through 4 innings.
  14. Get away day for both teams...swing early and often!
  15. Not sure what you're talking about, Valbuena rakes against LHP Well, not really but it worked. I just wondered if Sveum would rather sacrifice some defense to try to add to the lead.
  16. Will Sveum go to Baker or Mather here or is Valbuena's defense so much better that Sveum would rather leave the better defender in the game?
  17. Geo comes through with the infield in.
  18. Nice job escaping with no runs after a leadoff triple and a botched run down!
  19. Thanks for calling ball four a strike Mr. ump. Geo ends the no-hitter and shut out with one swing.
  20. I hope someone in the organization tells him to knock off that crap and concentrate on doing his job more effectively.
  21. He is in the dugout managing tonight.
  22. What is the over/under on pitches the Cubs make Minor throw in the 2nd? I am thinking 12.
  23. His problems seem to be between his ears. He looked like he had no clue how to get an out after there were two runners on base in the 5th inning.
  24. I wonder if they will give Volstad another chance on Sunday?
  25. Awesome, I did a double-take on this one. Fred swore? WTF? The Cubs will do that to a person...
