  1. Poor Ramirez. The pitcher can't find the strike zone until Aramis walks into the batter's box. I guess Marmol needs some work.
  2. Berg should be out of the inning. Good job kid. Grabow to face a left handed hitter. This should be fun.
  3. Memo to Lou - Overexposure of Marshall leads to bad things for the team. He got you one inning, there was no reason to have him start the 8th.
  4. I get as frustrated as anyone at Soriano, but he is fun to watch when he is going good. This team needs him to be good to have a chance. Nice at bat Mr. Colvin. I am glad you showed Lou you can hang in there against a lefty.
  5. Do you think fans who really know baseball, turn to Kaplan for their news? If you only consider April 5th until today, this moves makes sense. Zambrano has been the 5th best starter so it makes sense to move him to the pen when another starter is coming back from an injury. However, NO ONE in their right mind should only use that short of a time frame to make a decision like this. I can't figure it out either, but I have definitely moved into the fire Lou and Hendry camp. I did not want Lou to come back this year but I was willing to give Hendry a chance. Now, bye bye to both as far as I am concerned. The funniest thing about this is the major problem with this team is the lack of offense. How does movin Zambrano to the bullpen help that?
  6. One thing I have noticed is it doesn't seem like Aramis is willing to go the other way with men on base. He seems pull conscious so far and that is not good. Personally, I still think Lou needs to hold these guys accountable. Aramis is not getting the job done right now. There is no reason he can't be benched for a couple of days. I'm not saying the team's terrible start is all Aramis' fault, but at what point does Lou take playing time away from these guys if they are not performing?
  7. I know this is probably silly, but I wonder if Ramirez is trying too hard. It looks like he is trying to hit everything out of the park like he wants to put up huge numbers and then exercise his out clause. I'd like to think players don't think like that but you never know. Hopefully he is just in a funk and will get going soon. They face the Brewers this weekend so the offense might show up again. If not for the Brewers series, the offensive numbers would really be ugly.
  8. Ramirez needs to sit next to Lou for a couple of days. He is swinging at everything and is hurting this team more than he is helping. It would be one thing if he was hitting in bad luck, but he has no patience and he is getting himself out quite often. It is unbelievable how this team can't put a few hits together more than one time per week. It is a boring team to watch no doubt about it. Too many high priced players who are not performing anywhere near you would hope.
  9. I am glad the Cubs decided they didn't need another option at SS on the roster. I am loving watching Theriot everyday. Wait, shame on me for watching. Seriously, I can only hope the Ricketts family has a clue. If Tom really believes in holding people accountable for results, I can't see how Piniella or Hendry survive if this teams continues to fail.
  10. Lou, did you see that? Jerry Manual broke the rule and let a lefty hit against a left handed pitcher. Another thing, Wells only had 93 pitches. Quit babying him and send him back out there. I am really torn. I don't want to see the Cubs have a bad season, but on the other hand I am sick of almost everything about this team, especially the manager. Then again, it doesn't matter. The names change but the results are the same.
  11. Hey Lou, why are your righthanded hitting bench guys still playing now that the lefty is out of the game? I'm not being serious, but since Lou doesn't think Fukudome or Fontentot can play against a left handed pitcher, I'd like to hear is reasoning for letting Baker and Nady hit against the right hander. Wow, what a feeble inning for the Cubs 3-4-5 hitters. No patience whatsover and three easy outs. Good job guys.
  12. Come on Marlon, please take advantage of this gift.
  13. Gotta love Theriot swinging for the fences.
  14. The fact that Wells walked Angel Pagan on 4 pitches does not allow me to feel bad for him. Good thing Lou changed things up a bit.
  15. Explain? He hopped when he caught the flyball.
  16. Well wasn't that fantastic. Nady can't hit a BP fastball right down the middle and then Ramirez continues to have an approach that seems to be the exact opposite of how he has been in the past. He is swinging at everything and trying to hit everything out of the park.
  17. Come on Mr. Nady. Please be patient, the pitcher is in trouble not you.
  18. Wells and Byrd back to back singles to lead off the 5th. Will Lou have Baker bunt?
  19. According to the rule book they are strikes. But it really doesn't matter, the ump is calling them so maybe the Cub hitters should pay attention to the game and realize they have to swing the bat. Edit: I guess Jason Bay isn't paying attention either.
  20. If the Cubs had a left-handed starter that was even passable against left-handers then I am sure Lou would consider starting them. Fukudome and Fontenot both struggle quite a bit against left-handers and it doesn't make sense to put in a 650 OPS hitter instead of an 800+ OPS hitter just for the sake of balance. Plus it gives rest to the two players and gives Nady and Baker at-bats. I realize they don't have a Joe Mauer or Adrian Gonzalez, but lets not act like Jeff Baker is a must play against all left handers. I don't know anything about the Mets pitcher tonight but I know soft tossing lefties stay away from right handers and the Cubs don't seem to change their approach at the plate. But it Lou is going to whine about his line-up and change things around, is it really changing anything by using the same players but at different spots in the batting order?
  21. I don't understand the all righties line up. All we hear from Lou is the need for a balanced line up but then he does this. On a positive note, he has Theriot where he should be in the line up.
  22. This offense is starting to make bad pitchers look like bad pitchers. I like it! It is also great to see D Lee pick up where he left off last year.
  23. Is it asking too much for cbs or espn gamecast to actually work? Lou - please explain to your hitters that the pitcher is in trouble when there are no outs and the bases are loaded. Tell them it is OK to take the first pitch, especially when it is a breaking ball.
