Chris Coughlan why in the world aren't you willing to take a walk to allow Baez to bat with the bases loaded? Work the count to 3-2 but then swing at a pitch that bounces. He has been a pleasant surprise, but that was ridiculous.
Can't throw sliders a foot outside three pitches in a row. Terrible execution by Rondon. Then again, if the offense could have gotten another run across in the top of the inning...
Have to wonder how Javy's at bat might have been different if Alcantara would have taken the walk. Tough to watch Alcantara and Rizzo chase terrible pitches on 3-2 count.
Well, see, Mike Olt is superterrible and the other two are just regular bad. But at least Olt might swing where the pitcher throws it. Meanwhile, the tanking of the second half is off to a flying start.
In game one Renteria leaves in Coglan and Sweeney to face a lefty with the bases loaded and one out in the 7th. In game two, he pinch hits for Olt in a tie game leading off the ninth. Seems inconsistent to me.
Bases loaded, one out in a 4-2 game and the offense fails miserably again. How bad are Lake and Olt that Renteria wouldn't give either of them a chance against Manny Parra?
Valbuena with a 2rbi double pinch hitting for Olt in the 6th inning. While I don't blame Renteria for making the move, it is a pretty sad commentary on Olt. They almost have to send him down.
I assume Bonifacio knows he doesn't have to swing on the 3-2 pitch. Man, that was a heck of an effort by Olt. If Rizzo stretched toward the throw they might have had McCutcheon.
Rondon throws mid 90's and there are shadows. Not sure why they think they have to keep the ball down or on the outer third. The worst part is everyone knows Reed Johnson is looking first pitch fastball. If I was going to throw one, it would be up and out of the zone, otherwise I think I would throw a breaking ball.
