    There are plenty of northern cities that don't have retractables, if that's what you mean. True, but I don't think the wind plays such an important factor every day. Wells walked himself into trouble but made a very nice comeback.

    This line-up is a fireable offense. You have a chance to win 2 out of 3 on the road and Sveum puts out this crap. No one expects the Cubs to be very good, but this is ridiculous.

    Me too, but watching bad veterans isn't much fun. I don't know if Joe Mather will be a decent 4th outfielder, but I'd much rather watch him pinch hit with two guys on base than Reed Johnson, especially against a RH pitcher.

    I know it is only the 4th game, but Sveum is not very impressive. I really thought the approach at the plate would change, but this has been an aggressive Cubs team so far.

    Like most here I am not expecting a lot of victories this year but that was horrible. The at bat by Jeff Baker in the 9th inning was disgusting.

    1 year deal for near $10 million according to Bob Nightengale of USA today via MLBtraderumors. This deal may also mean there is one less team going after Kerry Wood.

    It is possible they are close to making another trade and need to wait for that to happen in order to clear the 40 man spot. Otherwise there are no obvious guys that can be dropped unless they try to put someone like Casey Coleman through waivers. Not sure how much interest there were would be in him and whether Theo and Jed would even care if he was claimed. Could they remove Jeff Bianchi? He was claimed on waivers from KC so does he have to stay on the 40 man roster?

    Nice story to wake up to. If this happened, I hope the young lady is ok from a physical and emotional standpoint. As for Starlin, if guilty, whatever punishment he is given is justified.

    why would you hope that theo? I think the use of the word resigned in the context doesn't mean signing again with the Brewers, it probably means Prince has to accept the fact teams are not going to offer him 7 or more years.

    I guess the Nippon Ham team's acceptance isn't official until the end of four business days. Tuesday would make sense then. Thanks

    MLB TV Network is saying the winning bid will not be announced until next Tuesday. But the host didn't say why they would wait the full week to announce it. Peter Gammons admitted no one really knows about the bids but based on GMs he has spoken to Texas and Toronto were the teams he heard the most.
