It might be worth mentioning that Christmas itself is strongly connected to some very non-Christian beliefs, primarily Yule, an ancient pagan winter festival. Yule logs, decorated evergreen trees, mistletoe, wreaths, and gift giving are all Yule traditions, not Christian ones. December 25 itself was chosen by the Catholic Church as Christmas not because it's Christ's birthday (which is unknown), but to offset the "damning" influence of the pagan Yule holiday. Even the Santa Claus figure, with his reindeer sleigh, has roots in paganistic beliefs. When you think about it, Christmas itself is barely Christian, and even less so when you consider its modern materialistic bent and the fact that people everywhere - Christian or not - celebrate it for the simple fact of gathering together and enjoying life.
